FRUSTRATED locals living on the street where Love Actually was filmed have blasted "annoying" tourists – who treat it like "Disneyland".

Homeowners along St Lukes Mews in Notting Hill, London, are fed up dealing with ignorant visitors who shamelessly peep through windows and even walk inside the private properties.

The wealthy street draws thousands of festive fans each year who wish to see the spots featured in the iconic Christmas film.

They include the famous steps upon which actor Andrew Lincoln, who played Mark, confessed his undying love for Keira Knightly's character Juliet with romantic cue cards.

However, the woman who know lives in the legendary pink home claimed it's "frustrating" to deal with hoards of "annoying" movie fans swarming her property.

She said: "I must have one of the most 'Instagrammable' homes in London.

"It gets very frustrating with people peering in through the window while I am trying to work from home. It can get very annoying.

"One time I had people asking me why there was no coffee available to buy! People just think it is Disneyland.

"I did not know that the house was used in Love Actually before I bought it in 2006.

"But now I get people banging on the door and walking in."

The fed-up homeowner explained guided tours visit the area, with people forking out money to stand in front of her door.

"I tried to make a good thing out of it and put out a charity box if people wanted to take a selfie," she said.

Meanwhile, resident Jenny Hildreth, in her sixties, lives next door and claimed the tourist presence can be "annoying".

"It's lovely living here, it's absolutely wonderful. It's so central and quiet, and very pretty too. I'm very lucky to live here," said Jenny, who has been there for 15 years.

"The Victorian architecture is lovely. This really is a vibrant area with Portobello Road nearby and lots of lovely cafes and markets. It's quite artsy.

"You get a lot of people taking photos of the house next door for Instagram. It can get a bit annoying.

"During the pandemic this all stopped, it was quiet and nobody came by. But more recently you get tourist groups coming through."

However, other locals on the street welcome the attention, and love to be a part of the fans' experience.

Mark Neilson, 55, said: "I honestly don't mind all the tourists who come here to see the pink house – although I have seen a few people peering into the windows.

"It seems like there are quite a few Spanish tourist groups that come by as well."

The businessman added: "I only moved in here two months ago so didn't realise that Love Actually was filmed here – but I am a big fan of the movie."

And, Joanna Stepp has lived on the street with her boyfriend for two-and-a-half years and thinks the area is "generally very calm and peaceful".

The 35-year-old said: "This is a wonderful community with great neighbours.

"It's generally very calm and peaceful, but every week we get many tourists groups and tours walking through to see the pink house.

"It seems to be a Spanish tour, so I think Love Actually must be really popular in Spain – which I didn't realise!

"I like Love Actually, but my all-time favourite Christmas movie has to be The Holiday."

It comes as fuming locals living in the picturesque village used to film The Holiday and Bridget Jones's Diary are so sick of tourists – they're charging them to visit.

Movie fans descend on Shere, in Surrey as Christmas approaches every year – much to the fury of residents who are forced to stay inside as the tiny high street is blocked by a flood of tourists.

One local resident, who did not want to be named, said: “We’ve lived in the village for 18 years and the parking and traffic situation has got worse and worse.

“It’s become so bad now that we want to move, which is such a shame as it’s a beautiful village, with lots of lovely walks around it, but the invasion is just too much.

“We don’t go out with the car much anymore as there are just too many visitors to the village and I’m sure there will be an accident soon.

“The village has become a complete tourist trap and the other day a fire engine struggled to get down the road as there were cars parked down both sides."

Another disgruntled homeowner, who did not want to give her name, said bluntly: "It's absolutely awful.

"On the weekends there is nowhere to park. You can’t even walk down the street safely.

"It’s very unpleasant for the people who live here."

</picture>WRONG COM
