Events like these strike fear in the Jewish community and perpetuate the rise of anti-Semitism in our community and around the world,&#8217; Amy and Chris Hillyard, the owners of Farley&#8217;s posted online.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/11\/06\/78810839-12849053-image-a-121_1702275005539.jpg\" height=\"933\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Staff at Farley&#8217;s East in Oakland tried to kick out a Jewish woman after she tried to take a picture of anti-Semitic graffiti in their restroom. She was backed up by an equally determined member of staff, right. All three have been fired<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/11\/06\/78697151-12849053-Writing_scrawled_in_the_cafe_s_bathroom_said_Zionism_Fascism_and-a-93_1702275419036.jpg\" height=\"633\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Writing scrawled in the cafe&#8217;s bathroom said &#8216;Zionism = Fascism&#8217; and &#8216;Your neutrality is enabling genocide&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>They added that acts of hate would not be permitted within their business.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We do not tolerate any behavior at Farley&#8217;s that makes people feel unwelcome or unsafe. Because this act was not aligned with our values, the employees involved in the incident are no longer employed by Farley&#8217;s,&#8217; the Hillyard&#8217;s continued.<\/p>\n<p>The video showed the woman facing off against three employees who barred her from entering the restroom.<\/p>\n<p>One staff member in a yellow beanie told her: &#8216;It is private property, I do need you to leave.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Her colleague then jumped in, saying: &#8216;I know Israel loves taking private property and saying it&#8217;s their own, but we gotta head.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The woman responds in disbelief: &#8216;You are not going to let me in the restroom?&#8217;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She is then asked to leave once again by the worker in the yellow hat who accuses the woman of mis-gendering a colleague.<\/p>\n<p>The altercation continued and the woman &#8211; referring to the graffiti inside &#8211; asks: &#8216;Why are you afraid that I will take a picture of it if you agree with it?&#8217;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/11\/06\/78697161-12849053-The_woman_had_spotted_the_graffiti_and_complained_to_staff_who_t-a-92_1702275419035.jpg\" height=\"608\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The woman had spotted the graffiti and complained to staff who then tried to prevent her returning to take a picture<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/11\/06\/78696245-12849053-At_one_point_the_woman_was_asked_to_leave_the_private_property_b-a-88_1702275418954.jpg\" height=\"805\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>At one point, the woman was asked to leave the private property, before an employee jumped in with &#8216;I know Israel loves taking private property and saying it&#8217;s their own, but we gotta head.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>It eventually prompts the group to relent and let her into the bathroom, where the woman films the writing that has been scrawled on a bathroom mirror and baby changing table.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Your neutrality\/apathy is enabling genocide&#8217; can be seen written on a diaper-changing station while &#8216;Zionism = fascism&#8217; is written on the mirror above the sink.<\/p>\n<p>As she zooms in, one of the employees shouts: &#8216;History didn&#8217;t start in 1948 lady&#8217; in reference to the year the State of Israel was established.<\/p>\n<p>Once she has obtained the video footage she desired, the woman is ushered out of the bathroom while the staff shout &#8216;Free Palestine&#8217; at her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/11\/06\/78810759-12849053-The_owner_s_of_the_cafe_released_a_statement_apologizing_for_the-a-89_1702275418955.jpg\" height=\"548\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/12\/11\/06\/78810355-12849053-image-a-94_1702275419117.jpg\" height=\"586\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Farley&#8217;s East was forced to offer a &#8216;sincere apology&#8217; over the incident and confirmed it has taken &#8216;corrective measures&#8217; against staff involved<\/p>\n<p>Following the backlash to the video, Farley&#8217;s East was forced to publicly apologize.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We want to offer an acknowledgement and a sincere apology. As context, hate speech graffiti was written in our bathroom. We do not support hate speech; this does not reflect our values,&#8217; the caf\u00e9 said in a statement on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;After a customer used the bathroom and wished to return to document the graffiti, they were initially denied access and then allowed to enter the bathroom to film the graffiti.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We apologize for this error and the distress caused to the customer. We&#8217;ve taken corrective measures with our staff and removed the offensive graffiti.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;We&#8217;re not anti-Semitic; we value diversity and inclusivity.
