{"id":143986,"date":"2023-12-05T22:04:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-05T22:04:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity-hub.com\/?p=143986"},"modified":"2023-12-05T22:04:00","modified_gmt":"2023-12-05T22:04:00","slug":"margot-robbie-claims-oppenheimer-producer-tried-to-get-her-to-move-barbie-release-date","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity-hub.com\/lifestyle\/margot-robbie-claims-oppenheimer-producer-tried-to-get-her-to-move-barbie-release-date\/","title":{"rendered":"Margot Robbie Claims Oppenheimer Producer Tried to Get Her to Move Barbie Release Date"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>&quot;If you&#039;re scared to be up against us, then you move your date,&quot; Robbie, who also served as the executive producer on &#039;Barbie&#039; reportedly told &#039;Oppenheimer&#039; head Charles Roven.<\/h2>\n<p>Don&#8217;t mess with Barbie!<\/p>\n<p>In <strong>Variety<\/strong>&#8216;s latest Actors on Actors interview released Tuesday, <strong>Margot Robbie<\/strong> sat down with <strong>Cillian Murphy<\/strong> where the pair discussed their blockbuster hits, <em><strong>Barbie<\/strong><\/em> and <em><strong>Oppenheimer<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The films created a phenomenon at the box office, aptly titled Barbenheimer, with fans lining up in droves to catch a double feature of the darker, <em>Oppenheimer<\/em>, and the fun, albeit empowering <em>Barbie<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>But the mashup nearly didn&#8217;t happen, Oppenheimer heads reportedly asking Robbie and Barbie execs to push back the Greta Gerwig-directed film&#8217;s release date.<\/p>\n<p>It was a request Robbie says she declined, telling Murphy, when the film&#8217;s producer, Charles Roven, who had worked with Robbie on <em>Suicide Squad<\/em>, came to her and asked her to split the movie&#8217;s premieres to two separate dates, she declined.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unable to render YouTube Video.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cillian Murphy &amp; Margot Robbie | Actors on Actors\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MecVr3Bz4o0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;One of your producers, Chuck Roven, called me, because we worked together on some other projects. And he was like, &#8216;I think you guys should move your date,'&#8221; Robbie recalled. &#8220;And I was like, &#8216;We&#8217;re not moving our date. If you&#8217;re scared to be up against us, then you move your date.&#8217; And he\u2019s like, &#8216;We&#8217;re not moving our date. I just think it&#8217;d be better for you to move.&#8217; And I was like, &#8216;We&#8217;re not moving!&#8217; I think this is a really great pairing, actually. It&#8217;s a perfect double billing, <em>Oppenheimer<\/em> and <em>Barbie<\/em>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She continued, &#8220;Clearly the world agreed. Thank God. The fact that people were going and being like, &#8216;Oh, watch <em>Oppenheimer<\/em> first, then <em>Barbie<\/em>.&#8221; I was like, &#8216;See? People like everything.&#8217; People are weird. People have specific and wide-ranging tastes.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;And they don&#8217;t like being told what to do. Audiences don&#8217;t like being told, &#8216;You should see this or you should see that.&#8217; They will decide and they will generate the interest themselves,&#8221; Murphy added. &#8220;And I think what happened with both of our movies was a case and point of [how] the audience decided that this was correct and this was right.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.toofab.com\/image\/65\/o\/2023\/12\/05\/659d2cc5b2a14b0ca615d78d85e9baab_md.jpg\" width=\"825\" height=\"1031\" class=\"img-fluid img-aspect-original\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Robbie&#8217;s instinct was indeed right, with both movies ending up making cultural and box office history &#8212; <em>Oppenheimer<\/em> becoming the highest ever grossing biopic, and <em>Barbie<\/em> seeing the highest-ever global haul for a live-action movie from a female director.<\/p>\n<p>Of <strong>Barbenheimer<\/strong>, Murphy, who has been trolled online for being unaware of memes said, &#8220;It was impossible to avoid any of that stuff.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/images.toofab.com\/image\/00\/5by4\/2023\/07\/19\/00f11d8e68db4168a96ada87dac7901c_xs.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" class=\"img-fluid article-block__img-fluid\" \/><\/p>\n<h4>            Barbenheimer: Box Office Bomb vs Bombshell          <\/h4>\n<p>&#8220;Weren&#8217;t there some great ones? People are so clever,&#8221; Robbie gushed. &#8220;People kept asking me, &#8216;So is each marketing department talking to each other?&#8217; And I was like, &#8216;No, this is the world doing this!
