Ronnie O\u2019Sullivan reeled off six frames in a row to seal a 6-2 win over Anthony McGill in the first round of the UK Championship in York.<\/p>\n
The seven-time champion was back in action at the Barbican after withdrawing from the Champion of Champions event in Bolton a fortnight ago, due to being \u201cmentally drained and stressed\u201d.<\/p>\n
McGill took a 2-0 lead, thanks to a 116 break in the opening frame and a shock looked on the cards.<\/p>\n
However, O\u2019Sullivan took control, firing five half-centuries on his way to winning six frames in a row.<\/p>\n

The seven-time champion was back in action at the Barbican after withdrawing from the Champion of Champions event in Bolton a fortnight ago.<\/p>\n
Ronnie O\u2019Sullivan has revealed he could not go without alcohol and drugs during his battle with addiction and said he went out \u201cevery day and every night\u201d for six years.<\/p>\n
In an interview with the Stick to Football <\/em>podcast, the seven-time World Snooker Champion said he \u201chated\u201d himself during his last three years of his addiction and had to lock himself in his room to get clean.<\/p>\n The 47-year-old, whose struggles with substance abuse are explored in his new documentary The Edge of Everything<\/em>, <\/em>also said his \u201cbiggest regret\u201d was drinking to get through \u201cbad times\u201d.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The seven-time world champion opened up on his battle with addiction with Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher, Roy Keane and Ian Wright<\/p>\n The UK Snooker Championship continues with another intriguing day of action in store at the Barbican in York, including Judd Trump and Mark Selby\u2019s second-round clashes.<\/p>\n Trump reached the second round on Monday with a convincing 6-1 win over Pang Junxu, despite suffering the apparent effects of flu and entering the tournament as the fifth player in history to win three back-to-back ranking tournaments last month.<\/p>\n Trump is aiming to win the one title that has eluded him since a solitary success in 2011. \u201cI didn\u2019t feel great, but I\u2019m always going to turn up and give it my best,\u201d said Trump, who fears he caught the bug after attending rival O\u2019Sullivan\u2019s documentary premiere in London last week. \u201cIt\u2019s a big tournament and you obviously want to do well in it. Maybe I had slightly lower expectations, and maybe that helped a bit. It was a decent first-round performance and hopefully I can go away and get a bit better.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Judd Trump headlines the action in York on Wednesday <\/p>\n On to the Round of 16, then, with our field in York cut in half and the action intensifying. It\u2019s an intriguing day of action in store at the Barbican, with a couple of intriguing afternoon session matches to kick start the day.<\/p>\n Judd Trump <\/strong>has three tournament wins already this season and looked in fine touch in his first round win despite battling illness. He takes on Welshman Jamie Jones <\/strong>in a first Triple Crown meeting between the pair.<\/p>\n The other table could provide an even more compelling contest \u2014 Tom Ford <\/strong>is in career-best form and likes the Barbican, his run to the semi-finals last year ended by Ding Junhui<\/strong>, his opponent today.
