<\/p>\nTOP Gear is set to be "rested" after Freddie Flintoff was seriously injured in a horror 124mph crash.<\/p>\n
Former England cricket captain\u00a0Freddie, 45, was rushed to\u00a0hospital\u00a0after the high-speed crash last December.<\/p>\n
\n<\/p>\n
He was injured in an accident at the Top Gear test track at Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey.<\/p>\n
Now, the hit motoring show will be rested for the \u201cforeseeable future\u201d, the\u00a0BBC\u00a0has announced.<\/p>\n
In a statement given to the PA news agency, the BBC said: \u201cGiven the exceptional circumstances, the BBC has decided to rest the UK show for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe BBC remains committed to\u00a0Freddie, Chris [Harris] and Paddy [McGuinness\u00a0] who have been at the heart of the show\u2019s renaissance since 2019, and we\u2019re excited about new projects being developed with each of them.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will have more to say in the near future on this. <\/p>\n "We know resting the show will be disappointing news for fans, but it is the right thing to do.<\/p>\n \u201cAll other Top Gear activity remains unaffected by this hiatus including international formats, digital, magazines and licensing.\u201d<\/p>\n Filming for the show Flintoff co-presents with Paddy McGuinness and automotive journalist Chris Harris was halted since the crash 11 months ago.<\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n Following the crash, the BBC announced at the time that continuing filming would be \u201cinappropriate\u201d, adding there would be a health and safety review.<\/p>\n The brave star's\u00a0facial injuries were visible while he helped out the England cricket team in training this summer.<\/p>\n Flintoff reached a settlement with the BBC, said to be worth \u00a39m.<\/p>\n The payout will come from the commercial arm of the BBC and not from the licence fee.<\/p>\n![](\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/Untitled-design-61.jpg\")
