The Repair Shop: Flying saucer toy is repaired<\/h3>\n

The Repair Shop\u2019s vintage toy expert David Burville had an emotional moment after returning a restored flying saucer to its owner.<\/p>\n

It came as he handed back a vintage toy saucer he had restored. Seeing that he had clearly become attached to it fellow expert Dominic Chinea enquired: \u201cWere you sad to see that one go?\u201d<\/p>\n

An emotional David admitted: \u201cYes that was great wasn\u2019t it? I loved that. Loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the toy was first brought into the workshop he could hardly contain his excitement.<\/p>\n

Steve Hann, who brought it in for repair, explained that it was one of his favourite toys from his childhood.<\/p>\n

He recalled his close relationship with his grandfather, as he and his mother lived with his grandparents when he was a child while his father did his national service in Egypt.<\/p>\n

He then explained that the toy was a gift from them after they holidayed in Canada and at the time it was an impressive toy to own, and Steve said that he loved it.<\/p>\n

The incredibly retro toy seemingly used to whizz around the floor, spinning and flashing. Inside the glass dome cockpit is a little spaceman who appears to steer it.<\/p>\n

However, the toy had been out of action for decades, since Steve\u2019s teenage years, after the batteries leaked into it and the acid corroded much of the metal in the unit.<\/p>\n

As well as the technical issues the paintwork has faded and it was looking a little worse for wear.<\/p>\n
