Dr Ranj Singhhas teased that a \u201csurprise\u201d return to TV could be on the cards for former This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield following his \u201cunwise but not illegal\u201d affair with a younger colleague on the daytime show. <\/p>\n

Dr Ranj, 44, who was the show's resident medical expert from 2016 to 2021, has reflected on the events concerning Phillip in a new interview with Closer, as he revealed: \u201cI don\u2019t think many people have heard from him since everything came out\u201d.<\/p>\n

He continued and said: \u201cI hope he\u2019s well and I hope he\u2019s OK, but I don\u2019t think many people have much contact with him. A lot happened in a very short space of time.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was revealed in the summer that ITV was conducting an external review into the details surrounding Phillip\u2019s immediate departure from the show.<\/p>\n

While Dr Ranj said \u201cpeople do surprise us\u201d with comebacks to TV, he said he thinks everything needs to be \u201cproperly investigated\u201d and that \u201cwe need to get to the bottom of everything\u201d.<\/p>\n

Shortly after Phillip\u2019s departure, Dr Ranj spoke out about his experience on the show and claimed there was a \u201ctoxic\u201d environment.<\/p>\n

He said in a statement posted to his Instagram: \u201cOver time I grew increasingly worried about how things were behind the scenes and how people, including myself, were being treated. I didn\u2019t know the truth about what was going on with Phillip, bit I do know the issues with This Morning go far beyond him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt takes more than one person to create a culture\u201d.<\/p>\n

The star also told the publication that he had reached out to his friend and co-star Holly Willoughby who informed him that she\u2019s \u201cgood\u201d after she left her role on This Morning after more than 10 years.<\/p>\n

In a heartfelt message, the mum-of-three shared: "I have let ITV know today that after 14 years, I will not be returning to This Morning.<\/p>\n

To everyone who has ever worked on the show over the years, thank you so so much. This is such a tough goodbye, you are all amazing and I'll always be proud of what we've achieved together.<\/p>\n

"I won't be coming back to This Morning. Thanks to everyone at ITV for being so supportive. To every guest who has sat on our sofa, thank you."<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
