Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley has since come under pressure to ask the Home Secretary to ban any marches that could coincide with Armistice Day commemorations.<\/p>\n

The alleged threat prompted some Britons – including veterans, to stand guard around the Cenotaph.<\/p>\n
The men held up signs reading ‘have some respect for your British heroes’, waved Union Jack flags and sang Rule Britannia.<\/p>\n
However, one of the groups behind marches that have been held since the war between Israel and Hamas broke out last month insisted it had ‘no intention of marching on or near Whitehall.’<\/p>\n
