Rishi Sunak clashes with Laura Kuenssberg over inflation

Laura Kuenssberg returned to her flagship BBC politics show yesterday following four weeks off due to sad family news.

The 47-year-old’s businessman father Nick Kuenssberg died aged 80 following an illness and Victoria Derbyshire stepped in to present.

She last appeared on her eponymous programme on October 1 when she interviewed Rishi Sunak at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester.

Yesterday’s show saw her welcome Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden, Labour’s John Healey, Arab League Assistant Secretary General Hossam Zaki, Succession star Sarah Snook, broadcaster Piers Morgan, Green co-leader Carla Denyer and former health minister Lord Bethell.

Ahead of the show she took to X, formerly Twitter, to thank fans for their support during her absence, writing: “Looking forward to being back… thank you very much for all the kind messages in the last few weeks, and to Victoria Derbyshire for holding the fort.”

@QuinnJ173155 aired their disappointment chiming in: “Shame it’s not @vicderbyshire hosting.”

@davidma62576154 stated: “Victoria Derbyshire would be massive improvement over Kuensberg.”(sic)
