Influencer Chessie King emcompasses a big sister energy throughout her social media page, where she provides a raw, unfiltered and uncensored outlook on almost everything to do with being a woman in today’s society.

In a candid chat with OK! Chessie opened up on her turbulent journey with her own image and how she has ended up, not only accepting herself, but appreciating and celebrating every part of her body, especially since giving birth to her two year old daughter Auralia.

Describing her Instagram page as a “giant girls group chat”, Chessie aims to “encompass being a woman in every single way” with her 715k followers, whether the focus is on confidence, parenting, adult relationships, sharing practical tools and positivity.

Reflecting on her battles with her younger self, Chessie said: “I look back on photos when I was like 17 to 23 and I just I bullied my body in every single way, I wanted to change it in every single way, and it's it's such a shame that I kind of lost those years.”

After finding out she was pregnant and going to be a mum to a baby girl, Chessie switched up her thinking as she believed everything she would be thinking, the baby could also hear.

Chessie said: “My first thought when I found out I was having Auralia and found out we were having a girl was like everything I'm saying to my body or thinking about my body, she can hear even when she's inside me. I believe that she can hear that positive voice about my body”.

Discussing being a mum to a girl, Chessie said that she wants her daughter to grow up seeing “me very confident in my own skin”.

“As a mom to a girl now, even just being completely naked with her in the bath and her like playing with my tummy and all the bits that I used to absolutely hate, she celebrates and she sees that.”

The proud mum continued: “I just want her to grow up seeing me very confident in my own skin and my own body without like saying anything negative about it. So she never has to think negatively about herself.”

Chessie’s daughter turned two in the summer and the influencer revealed that as soon as it was her birthday, everyone asked “when is the next one?”. She said, while there is no bad intention behind the question, it “holds so much weight because a lot of people can't have a second one or even a first one”.

“Also I suffered with HG (hyperemesis gravidarum) in my pregnancy to the point where I was hospitalised and was just sick 25/30 times a day, most days for nine straight months.

“I really don't want to put myself or her through that again, because and if I was to have a second, it may happen again and she may not see me the whole pregnancy because I'll be at the hospital. That just really upsets me and I don't think I could put my body through that because I feel like I've only just regained that's two years later.”

While there have been ups and downs over the past few years, Chessie said that Auralia’s age right now is her favourite age so far.

Chessie said: “I think we can enjoy it more. And now that she can ask us questions, she's just hilarious. She asked me if I slept well this morning. She was like ‘did mummy sleep well?’ And I was like ‘Oh my God, you're so kind’”.

Chessie recently launched her own ring collection with Vintage Pink – a female-founded vintage jewellery brand that “loves to celebrate women”.

Speaking about her collection, Chessie said: “That's what I love about social media, that you can work with these amazing female founded brands.”

“I think the story behind the brand is incredible the fact that you don't, as a female, have to wait for anyone to propose to you, you can propose for yourself and you can buy yourself special rings.”
