{"id":141286,"date":"2023-09-18T18:06:55","date_gmt":"2023-09-18T18:06:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity-hub.com\/?p=141286"},"modified":"2023-09-18T18:06:55","modified_gmt":"2023-09-18T18:06:55","slug":"sadiq-khan-and-his-team-rack-up-more-than-430000-air-miles-since-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity-hub.com\/world-news\/sadiq-khan-and-his-team-rack-up-more-than-430000-air-miles-since-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"Sadiq Khan and his team rack up more than 430,000 air miles since 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>&#8216;Hypocrite&#8217; Sadiq Khan and his team rack up more than 430,000 air miles since he was elected London Mayor in 2016<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Labour politician attracted condemnation as he flew to US for a climate summit<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>READ MORE: Anti-Ulez vandals target Sadiq Khan&#8217;s fleet of camera vans<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sadiq Khan, his deputies and officials have racked up more than 430,000 air miles since he was first elected London Mayor in 2016, analysis shows.<\/p>\n<p>The Labour politician, who has positioned himself as a champion of environmental causes, attracted condemnation yesterday as he flew to the US for a climate summit.<\/p>\n<p>He is expected to use the trip to promote his Ultra Low Emission Zone (Ulez), which he claims will reduce deaths caused by air pollution, after expanding the scheme last month.<\/p>\n<p>He flew to New York with five aides to attend the UN General Assembly and take part in the Climate Ambition Summit and is also due to appear alongside Prince William at the Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Khan is flying despite repeatedly saying he wants to clean up the air, and analysis shows his latest trip has sent the number of air miles clocked up by him and his team to 430,000.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/17\/22\/75536001-12529297-image-a-32_1694984789359.jpg\" height=\"545\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Sadiq Khan and his team have racked up more than 430,000 air miles since he was first elected London Mayor in 2016<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/17\/22\/75535999-12529297-image-a-33_1694984791715.jpg\" height=\"423\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>The Labour politician\u00a0is expected to use the trip to us US to promote his Ultra Low Emission Zone, which has been subject to severe criticism<\/p>\n<h3>READ MORE:\u00a0Anti-Ulez vandals target Sadiq Khan&#8217;s fleet of camera vans: &#8216;Blade runners&#8217; cover vehicles with graffiti and deflate tyres after 4,000 joined Facebook group encouraging people to report sightings<\/h3>\n<p>That is enough to fly around the world 17 times and is estimated to have pumped out 200 tons of carbon into the atmosphere.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The latest New York trip alone will account for 41,412 of the air miles total, when all six attendees and both legs of the journey are taken into account.<\/p>\n<p>It comes after Mr Khan&#8217;s &#8216;Night Tsar&#8217; Amy Lame \u2013 tasked with helping London&#8217;s nighttime economy thrive \u2013 jetted off to Sydney, adding a further 21,146 miles to the total. She attended the Neon international nighttime economy forum in May.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mr Khan faced criticism for a five-day trip to the US in May last year in which he was seen schmoozing with James Corden on a rooftop terrace bar in Los Angeles after visiting a cannabis factory.<\/p>\n<p>Susan Hall, the Tory candidate in May&#8217;s London mayoral election next year, said: &#8216;Sadiq Khan and his team have racked up enough air miles to travel to the moon, and yet he has the audacity to impose a Ulez tax on the poorest and lecture us on climate change.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Londoners deserve a mayor who will work hard fixing the bread-and-butter issues that matter to them, not someone who swans off to New York to promote himself.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Howard Cox, an academic who opposes the Ulez expansion, said: &#8216;What a hypocrite the London Mayor is.
