Matthew was given medical treatment by emergency services but was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after.<\/p>\n<p>This morning police arrested a woman in her 50s on suspicion of murder, who is said to be known to Matthew.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Detectives have said enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/12\/10\/75327497-12508305-image-a-1_1694512260113.jpg\" height=\"871\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Matthew Bryant was found with life-threatening injuries outside the Hare and Hounds pub in Maidstone, Kent<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/12\/11\/75328557-12508305-image-m-16_1694513301712.jpg\" height=\"677\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Matthew\u00a0was given medical treatment by emergency services but was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/12\/10\/75327797-12508305-image-a-12_1694512560687.jpg\" height=\"381\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Police rushed to the site on Lower Boxley Road at around 6pm last night<\/p>\n<p>Matthew had worked as a pub landlord for 25 years and had taken over the Hare and Hounds in 2015, according to reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Tributes have now been paid to him, with Becky Whitehead saying: &#8216;R.I.P Matt. Love and thoughts to the family and friends. I&#8217;m so sorry for your loss.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Chris Leach said: &#8216;He really didn&#8217;t. Hadn&#8217;t got a bad bone in his body. You couldn&#8217;t help but love him.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>Mark Osborne added: &#8216;Matt and Caroline were the best landlords you could ever meet all my thoughts go out to all his family and friends heaven has got a true angel. R.I.P Matt.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The road was shut outside the Hare and Hounds pub, between the roundabout at\u00a0Staceys Street and the J&amp;S Accessories shop.<\/p>\n<p>A number of officers were at the scene, and were diverting traffic as well as carrying out inquiries.<\/p>\n<p>Two forensic cars and four police vehicles remained there into the evening and police taped off the road. Multiple police vehicles remained outside the pub this morning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Kent Police said: &#8216;Officers have arrested a woman on suspicion of a murder in Maidstone.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/12\/11\/75328555-12508305-image-m-19_1694513775703.jpg\" height=\"618\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Matthew had worked as a pub landlord for 25 years and had taken over the Hare and Hounds in 2015, according to reports<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/12\/10\/75327877-12508305-image-a-13_1694512649537.jpg\" height=\"432\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Matthew was given medical treatment by emergency services but was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.dailymail.co.uk\/1s\/2023\/09\/12\/10\/75327863-12508305-image-a-14_1694512653433.jpg\" height=\"403\" width=\"634\"><\/p>\n<p>Detectives have said enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Kent Police was called to Lower Boxley Road at 6pm on Monday 11 September 2023, and patrols attended along with South East Coast Ambulance Service.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;A man was treated for injuries consistent with stab wounds and was confirmed deceased at the scene shortly after. His next of kin have been informed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;An investigation by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate was commenced and a woman in her 50s was arrested and taken into custody.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;It is understood the suspect and the victim were known to each other.
