HUNDREDS of passengers have been left in huge queues at Glasgow Airport today due to major security issues.<\/p>\n
Images show<\/span> hundreds of travellers stuck in long, winding queues as they try to get through security<\/span> checks for their flights. <\/p>\n Passengers caught up in the queue chaos inside the terminal have told how police are checking their IDs and are "looking for someone". <\/p>\n Eyewitnesses claim that there are only two security belts open for the whole airport currently.<\/p>\n Passengers are being directed by the police and airport staff to join the queue.<\/p>\n Edinburgh, Glasgow, Prestwick, Inverness and Aberdeen Airport have all had security checks as part of the manhunt.<\/p>\n UK Border force have launched a UK-wide man hunt for a terror suspect across each individual airport, resulting in extra security checks taking place.<\/p>\n A nation-wide manhunt was launched for ex-soldier Daniel Abed Khalife, 21, after he fled prison this morning.<\/p>\n He has a military background and served previously in the Britisharmy<\/p>\n The lag is currently awaiting trial for terrorism offences.<\/p>\n <\/picture>WILKO WOES <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>GONG HOME <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>QUEUE JUMP <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n <\/picture>this moaning! <\/span><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p>\n It was alleged Khalife left three canisters with wires at MOD Stafford in January this year.<\/p>\n He is of slim build, has short brown hair and is around 6ft 2ins tall.<\/p>\n Khalife has links to the Kingston area with cops believing he is most likely still in London.<\/p>\n However, there are concerns he could have travelled further afield with major airports up and down the country being swooped in on.<\/p>\n Some passengers have missed their flights due to the ongoing security incident at the airport.<\/p>\n An onlooker told the Scottish Sun: "Police aren't telling us anything. But, the general chat is that they are looking for someone. The flights are going ahead. It's just stringent security checks at security first".<\/p>\n One user tweeted: "Queue didn\u2019t move for an hour. Missed flight<\/span> to Southampton. <\/p>\n Nadine Campbell wrote: "NATIONAL SECURITY<\/span> ALERT at Glasgow Airport. <\/p>\n "Anyone know anything? It\u2019s not exactly the best day to be stuck in an airport with zero air con."<\/p>\n Another user added: "Turns out additional ID checks by Border Force under Prevention of Terrorism<\/span> Act.<\/p>\n "@GLA_Airport, it\u2019s like dealing with kids<\/span>. Always tell them the truth or they grow thinking you are useless 'airport at capacity'.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for AGS airport said: "Additional temporary security measures have been put in place by UK Border Force."<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Edinburgh Airport said: "It is a UK wide search by UK Border force. <\/p>\n "We had it at Edinburgh Airport but, it is over now".<\/p>\n Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met\u2019s Counter Terrorism Command\u00a0said: \u201cWe have a team of officers who are making extensive and urgent enquiries in order to locate and detain Khalife as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n "However, the public can help us as well and should anyone see Khalife, or have any information as to where he might be, then please call 999 or the immediately.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cI also want to reassure the public that we have no information which indicates, nor any reason to believe that Khalife poses a threat to the wider public, but our advice if you do see him is not to approach him and call 999 straight away.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n We pay for your stories and videos!
