AFTER showing up in the cobbles, Cassandra Plummer promised she'd get her act together and stay clean.

But her demons catch up with her next week in Coronation Street, leaving her granddaughter Hope Stape shocked to the core.

Cassandra Plummer (portrayed by Claire Sweeney) was revealed to be alive despite her mother Evelyn (Maureen Lipman) claiming the contrary to her son Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall).

But when Cassie showed up with the firm intention of bonding with the mechanic, Evelyn made the decision to take her away from Weatherfield first in a last-ditch attempt at getting her clean and sober.

Both women returned to the ITV cobbles with Cassie vowing to stick to her guns and stay off drugs.

Unfortunately, her addictions catch up with her in upcoming scenes of the Manchester-based drama.

It all begins as Cassie arrives at the garage for her first day at work and Tyrone thanks Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) for giving her a chance.

But as Cassie sweeps the forecourt, Dean Turnbull (Anthony Crank) shows up demanding drug money.

Cassie promises to pay him by the end of the day and hisses at him to go.

Recognising Dean from her own dark days, Abi Webster (Sally Carman) wonders what’s going on.

</picture>

</picture>

</picture>

</picture>

When Cassie then refuses to go for lunch, making out she’s waiting for a customer, a suspicious Abi nips back to find Cassie helping herself to the petty cash.

As Tyrone and Evelyn appear, Cassie begs Abi not to say anything. Will Abi agree?

With Tyrone struggling to get Ruby’s new boots in time for her party, Cassie offers to pop into town and pick them up.

Tyrone reluctantly hands her £80, while Evelyn’s incredulous.

Viewers have witnessed Evelyn completely losing faith in her daughter as she has grown accustomed to her relapses.

After meeting Dean on a street corner, Cassie pops several of the pills he’s just sold her.

Jack and Ruby’s party starts and Tyrone glances at the door, desperate for Cassie to show up to prove Evelyn wrong.

Everything you need to know about Coronation Street

But when Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) lets slip how he saw a bloke roughing up Cassie last week, Abi’s forced to confirm that Dean’s a drug dealer that Cassie owed money to and she caught her trying to steal the petty cash.

Tyrone’s horrified as they scour the streets in search of Cassie.

When Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) yells that she’s found her, slumped on the pavement, clearly having overdosed, they call an ambulance.

Will Cassie pull through?

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.

EastEnders fans in shock as a second character returns to Walford from the dead
