    Michael Parkinson\u2019s son has opened up about his childhood and revealed the famous broadcaster \u201cwasn\u2019t the best dad in the world\u201d just weeks after his death.<\/p>\n

    During Monday\u2019s visit (August 28) to the ITV studios, Kate Garraway and Richard Madeley welcomed viewers back for the first instalment of the week with the top headlines of the morning.<\/p>\n

    On Good Morning Britain, the pair discussed the impact the late chat show host\u2019s death has had on the public up and down the country after he passed away on August 16, 2023.<\/p>\n

    Later on in the show, the pair welcomed his son Mike to talk about what he was like away from the cameras where he revealed how the TV star battled with imposters syndrome for most of his career.<\/p>\n

    Despite being one of the most beloved TV presenters on the silver screen, Mike confessed that his late father was quite \u201cstrict\u201d behind closed doors.<\/p>\n

    When Kate asked if Michael was different at home compared to at work, he told viewers: "He was not consciously different. <\/p>\n

    "I can't sit here and say he was the father of the year because wasn't the father of the year, but not in a bad way." <\/p>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Mike went on: "He was very much a man of his time and he very much was strict and 'Do as I say and not as I do'. <\/p>\n

    "I think he does go back to the fact that in the end what defined him as a man is what he did and it drove him, and it drove him forward." <\/p>\n

    The doting son went on to credit his mother for her continued support throughout her late husband's career. <\/p>\n

    He added: "Behind every single story there is a great woman and behind him was my mother and she was the one that held the family together and reminded him that he needed to come home and be with us."<\/p>\n

    The TV presenter passed away at the age of 88 earlier this month with a decorated career which spanned across seven decades with the TV presenter interviewing some of the biggest stars on his long-running talk show.<\/p>\n
