6th May 2022

MOTHER of Baby P will be released from prison after serving a total of 11 years behind bars.

Peter died after he was subjected to horrific abuse by the very people who were meant to look after him, including his mother Tracey Connelly.

Who is Baby P’s mum Tracey Connelly?

Tracey Connelly, 40, gave birth to Baby P on March 6, 2006 and the pair lived together in Haringey, London.

Around two months later, Connelly's new boyfriend, Steven Barker, moved into her house.

In December 2006, a general practitioner noticed bruising on Baby P, who was removed from the care of his mother.

Connelly was arrested several times and Peter was removed from her care but returned when social services felt the threshold for initiating care proceedings was not met.

Over the course of eight months, Baby P would suffer over 50 injuries on his tiny body – including choking the 17 month old until he turned blue.

Despite the intervention of the social workers, key signs of abuse had been missed.

Baby P sadly died on August 2, 2007 after failed resurrection attempts by the emergency services – a post mortem revealed he had a broken back and fractured ribs.

Connelly, Barker and Barker's brother Jason Owen were arrested for the death.

When will Baby P’s mum Tracey Connelly be released from prison?

The Parole Board, in a decision that has been slammed by Dominic Raab, have granted Connelly's request to be released from prison.

It is thought she will be released at some point this month and given a new identity.

Dominic Raab, writing in The Sun, said: "I want Sun readers to know that I will do all I can to change this.

"And, that I am going to ask the Parole Board — who decided she is no longer a danger to the public — to think again.

"When they allowed her to be released in 2013, she was back behind bars for online sex allegations less than two years later.

"Releasing her was the wrong call then and it still is now."

A relative of Baby P said: “Connelly gets chance after chance.

"When will these people learn evil is evil? She’s fooled them before and fooled them again.”
