This is the stomach-churning moment a ‘cannibal’ snake kills a smaller serpent and drags it off into the wilderness.

In the clip, captured in Trundle, New South Wales, Australia, the motionless serpent lies in the mouth of the bigger snake before its body is dragged away. 

The black snake pulls the body of the now powerless serpent along the duty path and into the wilderness.

The video was captured by farmer, writer and conservationist Ben Kerin and later posted on Twitter.

It has since gathered more than 57,000 views. 

On Twitter Mr Kerin wrote: ‘Just watched this black snake kill and drag off a smaller version of itself. Its a snake eat snake world out there!’

The video has since gathered more than 57,000 views on Twitter and seen users share their horror at the gruesome scenes

Shocked viewers took to social media to share their horror at the gruesome scenes.

One user wrote: ‘This is the stuff of my nightmares.’ 

While another commented: ‘Not sure if I’m impressed or terrified… nope, definitely terrified.’
