Rocky will remain in custody in Sweden until a trial on the assault charges,  the date of which has not been set.

It comes despite President Trump’s personal plea to the Swedish Prime Minster to release Rocky on bail, after Kanye West brought the rapper’s plight to Trump’s attention.

Trump tweeted that he had enjoyed a productive call with Stefan Löfven on Saturday morning, with the pair set to talk again after the weekend about A$AP’s legal woes

Footage of the fight showed the rapper, 30,  and his entourage hurling a man to the ground and punching and kicking him on the floor.

Four men were arrested in the Scandinavian city, one of them, the rapper’s bodyguard, was later released.

Protesting his innocence, Rocky said he and his team were pursued by the two men who had ‘kept following us’ four blocks around the Swedish capital.

‘We don’t know these guys and we didn’t want trouble,’ he insisted.

His own video showed an angry confrontation with the two men, one of whom accused the rapper’s entourage of breaking his headphones.

Swedish Prime Minister Löfven had previously acknowledged that Trump ‘has a personal interest in the case’ and said he would welcome a conversation with the US president, but stressed that Rocky would not receive special treatment.

Trump tweeted that he had enjoyed a productive call with Löfven, revealing that the pair set to talk again after the weekend about Rocky’s legal woes.

‘Just had a very good call with @SwedishPM Stefan Löfven who assured me that American citizen A$AP Rocky will be treated fairly,’ Trump’s tweet began.

‘Likewise, I assured him that A$AP was not a flight risk and offered to personally vouch for his bail, or an alternative…. Our teams will be talking further, and we agreed to speak again in the next 48 hours.’

Löfven said earlier he was aware Trump ‘has a personal interest in the case,’ but added that while he would welcome a conversation with Trump, it was not his place to sway the prosecutors or courts.

The announcement came just hours after West is said to have called the president through a direct line to the Oval Office, urging Trump to take action.

It was a rare comment on a diplomatic and political situation from the first lady.

‘Many, many members of the African-American community have called me, friends of mine, and said can you help. I personally don’t know A$AP Rocky but he has tremendous support from the African-American community in this country,’ Trump said.

‘When I say African-American, I think I can really say from everyone in this country because we’re all one. I have been called by so many people asking me to help A$AP Rocky. Actually the one who knew about A$AP Rocky was our first lady. Right? She was telling me about,’ he added.

‘Sweden is a great country. They are friends of mine. The leadership. And we are going to be calling, we’ll be talking to them. We’ve already started,’ the president said.
