According to Fox News, sources close to the president claim an announcement on the batch of pardons would likely be made today.

The outlet reported that rapper Lil Wayne is expected to be on the list.

Lil Wayne pleaded guilty last month to possessing a loaded, gold-plated handgun when his chartered jet landed in Miami in December 2019.

He faces a sentence of up to 10 years in prison at a January 28 hearing in Miami.

Lil Wayne appeared to support Trump during last year’s presidential campaign when he tweeted a photo of himself with the president and said he backed Trump’s criminal justice reform program and economic plan for African Americans.

Wayne wrote: "Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump @potus
besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the platinum plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done."

Another rapper on the potential pardon list is Kodak Black, who also praised the outgoing president before the 2020 election.

The artist was sentenced to 48 months in prison on federal weapons charges in 2019.

He confessed to lying about purchasing several firearms in background check forms.

Police later found two firearms linked to the rapper at crime scenes.

One of the weapons had Kodak Black’s fingerprints and a live round used to attack a rival rapper, The New York Times reported.

Kodak Black tweeted that he would donate $1million to charity if Trump pardoned him, but has since deleted the post.

Rappers Lil Pump and Lil Yachty and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson are among celebrities who have called on Trump to pardon Kodak Black.

Kodak Black has retweeted numerous calls to Trump to commute his sentence.

Trump has issued dozens of pardons to politicians and law enforcement officials since he was voted into office in 2016.

President Trump pardoned Michael Flynn on November 25 after reportedly informing confidants of his plans to pardon him.

Alice Johnson spent 20 years behind bars before President Donald Trump granted her clemency in 2018.
