A rogue landlord who packed 40 tenants into a four-bedroom house has been banned from letting out properties.
Greedy property dealer Jaydipkumar Valand, 48, was one of four landlords found guilty of raking in £360,000 by packing migrants and other vulnerable people into the semi-detached home in Wembley in 2018.
The 1920s property rented for £6,000 a month was divided into seven bedrooms on the ground floor and two on the first floor.
Tenants were crammed five-to-a-room in bunkbeds and shared just two bathrooms and one kitchen between them, with one person even living in a lean-to shack made out of pallets and tarpaulin, with no lighting or heating.
Valand has now been handed Brent Council’s first ever banning order, which will be in place for the next five years, following multiple housing-related offences in the north west London borough.

Enforcement officers discovered that fire exits were blocked and tenants were living in bunk beds in a the garden shed surrounded by sacks of rice.

UK Border Force officers, who raided the property, described it as the ‘worst’ example of overcrowding they had ever seen.
There were a minimum of 25 people living in the house and there could at any one time be up to 40 people living there, the court heard.
Valand was hit with a £5,000 confiscation order, but later went on to exploit more vulnerable tenants.
He was again found guilty last January of breaching housing regulations at a different licensed house in multiple occupation (HMO) property in Wembley.
Enforcement officers discovered fire safety violations, accumulating litter and unhygienic conditions under Valand’s management while he trousered £1,400 a month from tenants living in unsafe conditions without tenancy agreements.
He was fined £30,000 and ordered to pay £3,347 costs at Willesden Magistrates Court.
Valand, who lives elsewhere in Wembley with his family, also declared that he didn’t own a business in the UK.
But Brent officers were able to show in court last year that this was not true.

A judge has now banned Valand from letting out houses in England or engaging in any sort of property management work in the country for the next five years.
Valand was also ordered to pay fines and costs of £6,190.
Brent Council leader Muhammed Butt said: ‘This is the first ban we have issued since Brent was given the powers in April 2018 to ban serial rogue landlords under the Housing and Planning Act 2016.
‘If Jaydipkumar Valand breaches his five-year ban, he will face a prison sentence.’
He added: ‘Brent Council takes a zero-tolerance policy against rogue landlords such as this, and we will use everything in our powers to hold them to account to safeguard our vulnerable residents.
‘The new selective licensing scheme that we introduced on August 1 is part of our commitment to protecting renters’ rights and securing a decent standard of living for all residents.
‘Landlords who rent out properties in Dollis Hill, Harlesden and Kensal Green and Willesden Green are now legally required to have a property licence.’
