HOMES were left shaking in London this morning after US military jets were seen soaring in the sky.
The loud bangs were heard by hundreds of residents in Essex just before 9.30am.
According to the Ministry of Defence, the aircraft were American F15s on a scheduled path.
They confirmed to the Mirror that they had taken off from RAF Lakenheath and were passing by an area near Brentwood.
The MOD added that the military planes were "heading towards Colchester before departing the Low Flying Area beyond Brentwood".
The jets appeared to have flown over Chelmsford, Witham and Brentwood with residents in Billericay and Romford in east London saying they too heard the deafening sound.
According to some Twitter users, the US Air Force eagles were practising for flypasts of the NFL games at Hotspur Stadium later this month.
A website called IanVisits said: "A flypast of four US military jets will take place over the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as part of a US football event.
"The flypast will (or at least should be) by four F-15 Eagle fighter planes based at RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk.
"There will be flypasts on both 10th and 17th October.
"The flypast is timed to be between 2.15pm to 2.45pm, but as the kick-off of the football matches is at 2.30pm, it's likely that the flypast will be earlier."
On Sunday, the New York Jets will play against the Atlanta Falcons while next week the Miami Dolphins will battle against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
