Ho-ho-hold it right there – you’re on the naughty list! Cops disguised as father Christmas and Santa’s little helpers arrest drug gang in Peru – with heroic elf seen cuffing a cocaine crook

  • They dressed in the Santa costumes so not to attract much attention, police said

A gang of drug dealers in Peru got a nasty surprise when Father Christmas and his elves broke down their door to cuff them and shut down the criminal operation.

Police dressed as Santa and his little helpers hammered down the door to cuff the gang who won’t be making it on to the nice list this year.

The agents were disguised in festive costumes with one officer dressed as the ruddy, white-bearded figure from the North Pole along with several of his little helpers.

The unusual but successful drug bust took place on Saturday, with the agents storming the building in Surquillo, Lima.

‘It being Christmas, a Santa in the street does not attract much attention,’ a police official said after the agents in festive dress stormed the drug gang’s base on Saturday, December 17

One of Santa’s helpers brought out an enormous hammer, broke down the front door and the group forced their way inside

The suspects, three men and a woman, initially thought it was a joke before police cuffed and arrested them

Police official David Villanueva told Peruvian TV: ‘It being Christmas, a Santa in the street does not attract much attention, and we used this to our advantage for this operation.’

The group ambled innocently down a street until suddenly they stopped at a house.

In a scene more akin to a comedy skit than a police raid, one of Santa’s helpers brought out an enormous hammer, broke down the front door and the group forced their way inside.

Instead of greeting the occupants with a jolly cheer, agents screamed at them to freeze and lay down on the floor.

The suspects, three men and a woman, initially thought it was a joke, said Villanueva.

The agents seized 6,000 small packets of cocaine paste, 104 of cocaine powder and 279 of marijuana, said police

Police arrested the gang and seized their merchandise and weapons in the bust in Lima, Peru

The bust was called ‘The fall of the Chicago Grinch’ after the fictional green monster that stole Christmas and Surquillo’s nickname of ‘Little Chicago’ in an allusion to the violent gangs that ran the American city in the 1920s.

The agents seized 6,000 small packets of cocaine paste, 104 of cocaine powder and 279 of marijuana, said police.

One kilogram of cocaine paste sells for about $380 in Peru and a kilo of powder, the purest form, for about $1,000.

Peru is one of the world’s biggest cocaine producers, alongside Colombia and Bolivia.
