Footage has emerged showing a silver SUV ending up on an F1 track when the driver took a wrong turn – and taking evasive action to get out of the way.
Racing drivers had to try and avoid the car as it was blocking the pit lane exit.
The driver tried to turn to get out of the way, in footage caught by a visor camera.
The incident took place at the Interlagos motorsport circuit in Sao Paulo, home of the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Footage shows two racing car drivers slamming on the brakes as the Mercedes GLA driver attempts a three point turn in front of them.
It is unclear when the footage was filmed, but it was posted on Twitter on December 1.
It is believed that the event was a practice run and not an official race, unlike a similar incident in October when a Mini driver accidentally gate-crashed a Copa Mercedes race at the same circuit.
In the earlier incident, publicist Renata Monti, 29, took a wrong turn and ended up on the circuit.
She had been sent to cover a drag race but ended up on the F1 track instead when she took a wrong turn.
Renata later explained that there were no cones, signs, or staff members at the racetrack entrance.
It appears that no one was injured in either incident.
It is not known if the responsible authorities plan to make changes at the circuit to stop these kinds of incidents happening again.
