Are these Britain’s worst roast dinners? From fondue gravy to £60 meals with just ONE Brussel sprout – Brits slam their shoddy Sunday lunches

From fondue gravy, to no gravy at all, overcooked meat and a singular Brussels sprout, Brits have been sharing the worst examples they’ve seen of the classic roast dinner.
With the meal at the forefront of many minds in the build-up to Christmas, hopes of fluffy roast potatoes and deliciously sweet carrots are naturally high.
So there has been understandable anger from diners up and down the country who have sat down to enjoy a meal only to find it falling short of expectations.
Among those to take to social media was Young MasterChef judge Poppy O’Toole, who shared a photo of her friend’s Christmas party dinner – and was left unimpressed by a £60 per head Christmas party dinner in London.

She wrote in a post: ‘My friend just sent me a photo of her £60 per head Christmas party dinner in London and I’m sorry but how do we sue.’
The rather small roast dinner was pictured without gravy, three roast potatoes and a singular sprout.

People took to the comments to criticise the meal, with one person saying, ‘One sprout and no gravy? That’s a crime against roast dinners! (and I don’t particularly like sprouts!) There are better places to eat in London!’
Another person joked: ‘Looks like those pigs in blankets were cooked on a warm breeze.’
Elsewhere, a Camden cocktail bar has been mocked for its gravy fondue, which costs £18 per person, or £25 for unlimited portions.
The Lucky Club’s gravy fondue was launched on November 19 and has since gone viral on social media, with some people claiming it’s their idea of heaven.
But others are not so convinced, with people claiming it to be a ‘deconstructed roast’ and ‘criminal’ not to have roast potatoes as part of the offering.
‘This made me incandescent with rage,’ one person said. ‘Absolute sacrilege.
‘Plain, boiled cauliflower. New potatoes. Everything going cold separated like that???? It’s offensive is what it is.’
Meanwhile, another woman was left disappointed by the roast dinner she ordered during a visit to the Belle Vue, near Ramsgate, run by Shepherd Neame.
The woman told KentOnline that the meal was ‘cold’, ‘tiny’ and cost £19.

The Guelder Rose based in Southport and one of Marston’s pubs, received backlash from the public when it uploaded a picture of a roast on its Facebook page with ketchup
Elsewhere, a pub’s social media post asking whether ketchup belonged on a roast dinner sparked an outpour of criticism, the Liverpool Echo reported.

The Guelder Rose, based in Southport and one of Marston’s pubs, received a backlash from punters when it uploaded a picture of a roast on its Facebook page, complete with the unmistakable red sauce.
The pub asked the question of whether the sauce belonged on a roast dinner, to which 55 people cast their vote, with only one person agreeing.
In another example, a customer at Brewdog’s Tower Bridge Arms pub got their money back after the roast dinner they were served was labelled as ‘the worst roast in London’, it was reported in MyLondon.
The picture that the customer posted on Reddit showed three pieces of beef, roast vegetables, a couple of sauces and a Yorkshire pudding.
The customer joked that the beef ‘died of old age’, according to MyLondon.
Operations Manager Tony Broun for Shepherd Neame said: ‘Our pubs strive to offer the highest level of service, and we’re sorry to hear that these customers were disappointed with their experience at the Belle Vue Tavern.

‘We take all complaints seriously, and having spoken to the pub’s team, we are satisfied that their service on this occasion met our usual high standards.
‘As a gesture of goodwill, the team provided the meals free of charge on the day, and have refunded the £50 Boxing Day deposit.’
Brewdog, Marstons and The Lucky Club have all been approached for comment.
