JOE McElderry looked completely different as he posted a shot in fancy dress.

The 30-year-old who rose to fame after winning The X Factor  stunned fans with him impressive throwback.

Joe ramped up the glam as he dressed up like a pop legend in a photo on Instagram.

Fans did a double-take when they saw him dressed up as Madonna in her hey-day.

He went all out wearing the Like A Virgin singer's conical bra from her Vogue video.

Joe went all out wearing a blonde wig as well as a version of her Jean Paul Gaultier conical corset which she wore on her Blonde Ambition tour in 1989.

Joe formed a double act for the shot and posed with his friend Richard, who was dressed as legendary singer Liza Minnelli. 

Joe wrote: "Found this pic of me and @richardjameshunt dressed as Madonna and Liza from a few years back for my bday party. Made me smile." Joe has kept a low profile since he was crowned X Factor champion aged 18 back in 2009.  

It's been 13 years since Joe beat Olly Murs to become the winner of The X Factor series six, and there's no denying he looks very different these days.

Joe's debut single – a cover of Miley Cyrus' The Climb – rose to number one in the UK charts immediately after his X Factor triumph.
