When will Succession season 3 be released?
The wait for the third season of Succession is nearly over with the release of the first official trailer from Sky TV and HBO Max.
There isn’t a specific release date for the next season, but HBO has confirmed that the show will come in the autumn of 2021.
At a press briefing at WarnerMedia’s Hudson Yards headquarters, Casey Bloys, HBO’s Programming chief was asked last week if season three was coming Halloween of Christmas.
Bloys replied, explaining: “Somewhere in between.”
The season will be available to watch on HBO Max in the United States and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
Succession originally premiered in 2018 and became an immediate hit critically and with fans.
The show has gone on to amass a number of awards including Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series at the 2020 Emmy Awards.
The third season will pick up directly after the events of season two after Logan Roy (played by Brian Cox) was ambushed by his rebellious son Kendall (Jeremy Strong).
The synopsis reads: “Logan is now in a perilous position at the start of season three, scrambling to secure familial, political, and financial alliances.
“Tensions rise as a bitter corporate battle threatens to turn into a family civil war.”
The trailer gives fans more insight on what to expect from season three, showing all the key members of the Roy family once again.
The trailer shows the family plotting against each other as they plan on taking over the family dynasty.
During the trailer, Kendall can be heard saying: “Ask yourself, do you want to be on the side of good, or evil?”
Then Logan is seen saying: “You tell him I’m going to grind his f*****g bones to make my bread.”
The stakes are the highest yet for the show, with fans rushing to the comments to share their thoughts on the new trailer.
One fan said: “Rewatched the season one premiere yesterday. Got to love this masterpiece!”
Another fan added: “This teaser had me shaking like a polaroid picture.”
“Can’t wait. Let’s see what’s at the end of the beanstalk,” commented a third.
The rest of the returning cast includes Sarah Snook as Shiv Roy, Kieran Culkin as Roman Roy, Alan Ruck Connor Roy, Nicholas Braun as Greg Hirsch and Matthew Macfadyen as Tom Wambsgans.
All the main cast are returning for the new season, with showrunner Jesse Armstrong back leading the series.
While unconfirmed, the next season will likely consist of 10 episodes as seasons one and two did.
More details on the new season are expected to coming over the next few months as it heads closers to its premiere date.
Succession season 3 premieres on HBO Max in the USA and NOW and Sky in the fall.
