Dr Zoe was praised for shutting down a 'rude' guest during a tense fat-shaming debate on today's This Morning.
This Morning's resident doctor spent a day wearing a fat suit, which weighs five stone, to experience how some people live.
She noticed how every day tasks were made slightly more difficult and how walking round put extra pressure on her joints.
Back in the studio, Zoe was asked by Steve Miller why she felt the need to wear the suit and whether she had any empathy for overweight people before.
Zoe explained: "I had weight bias. When I was at medical school I wasn't as empathetic as I am now. I think it can make students understand."
As Zoe tried to speak, Steve butted in claiming she'd "had a lot to say" before giving his argument.
Steve said: "It is about support and understanding. It's also about saying to people the truth. In this country we’re terrified because of fat shaming. I think doctors are terrified to tell people they’re fat."
Zoe admitted that a lot of GPs were "terrified" to raise the topic of weight so the conversation needs to how to make that easier.
Going on a rant, Steve said: "I believe we're too kind. We have an empathy as deep as the Pacific ocean when it comes to helping people lose weight.
" These suits cost £2,000. I want that to be used on dementia care."
Hitting back, Zoe said: "I don’t use the word fat because I’m a professional. I choose in thew way I practise to use words which are more helpful."
This Morning viewers took to Twitter to complain about Steve's antics.
One viewer said: "Dear Steve, Drop the aggressive, snipey attitude please"
Another added: "Omg this man is a little rude #ThisMorning yes people are fat I get what he's saying he's very blunt"
A third said: "Such an angry man, he’s literally livid"
However, some viewers did agree with Steve's views on being scared to fat-shame.
One tweeted: "I agree with this guy, were too scared to say it but people need to hear it. You're fat, loose weight."
Another agreed: "He’s right. It’s right to fat shame people if they are too unhealthy. Everyone is too soft on it."
