The 36-year-old revealed the major chop to fans, posting: "Never be afraid to make changes because of what people will think of you or because they won’t like it."
She added: "Being happy with who you want to be is what matters.
"Chopped a bit of my hair to feel refreshed and to continue fine tuning the person I am. Just happy. Just me."
She later posted a speeded-up video of the chop, showing the whirring scissors of hairdresser Roberto Schirru, and writing: "Working his magic."
Fans overwhelmingly loved the look, writing ?? Beautiful x", I love the new style! You look amazing ?" and simply: "❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️."
The smart new look comes after Karen rushed on stage to congratulate her ex Kevin for finally lifting the Glitterball trophy with Stacey Dooley.
Kev, 36, burst into tears after winning the hit dance show for the first time after making it to the final five times.
Karen was eliminated earlier in the competition when she and Casualty actor Charles Venn, 45, were voted out in tenth place.
But she rejoined the programme on Saturday when all the contestants – including shamed star Seann Walsh – returned to perform.
Viewers were impressed that Karen ran over to praise Kevin, with one tweeting: “Seeing @keviclifton finally win #strictly with @StaceyDooley brought a tear to my eye.
"They both fully deserve the glitterball. Kevin puts his heart and soul into his dancing and is the best teacher. I’m so pleased that @karen_hauer congratulated him at the end. #teamclifton."
Another wrote: “That was very sweet when Karen ran on to congratulate Kevin. Melted my cold black heart.”
Talking about his split from Karen on It Takes Two this month, Kevin called the past 12 months the “craziest year of my life”.
Thanking Stacey, he said: “I've fallen in love with dancing all over again and Strictly all over again.
“I love this show… thank you for everything.”
Following their split in March, Kevin and Karen continued to work together.
But earlier this month, The Sun exclusively revealed how Kevin was overheard telling backstage staff he wanted to quit because of the “tensions” backstage.
A source said: “Kevin has been overheard backstage saying he feels the time is right for him to move on and that winning the contest won’t weigh heavily on his decision.
“He has absolutely loved his time on the show and the opportunities that it’s given him but he is getting itchy feet and there’s still tension with Karen."
