'Station 19' Season 5 Episode 5: Who is Leaving the Series? The New Crossover Trailer Teases the Death of [Spoiler]
9th November 2021

When Station 19 Season 5 Episode 5, “Things We Lost in the Fire,” returns on Nov. 11, the new preview trailer teases the death of a firefighter. The Station 19 social media team released a new preview on Nov. 8 with new scenes. Fans now firmly believe that a firefighter dies in the upcoming Station 19 Grey’s Anatomy crossover event. Plus, a social media post from Jason Winston George left fans to think that he is leaving Station 19.

Is Jason Winston George leaving ‘Station 19’?

Many fans worry that Jason Winston George, who portrays Ben Warren, might leave Station 19 after writing a heartfelt social media post. In the tweet, George shared the new Station 19 Season 5 Episode 5 preview. Ben Warren’s on-screen wife, Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson), believes someone arrives at Grey Sloan Memorial hospital dead in the teaser. She also cannot reach Ben on the phone in the preview, and Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd) insists a lot of trauma is heading their way.

“On a personal level…,” George tweeted. “This #greysanatomy #station19 #crossover is the most powerful one yet. Real talk… We got teary even after cameras stopped rolling, especially me. #muchlove to all my @greysabc & @station19 family. Genuinely love you all.”

Many fans worry that the tweet from George is a goodbye to his Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy family. However, other fans believe the Station 19 preview and tweet from George are red herrings meant to throw fans off the scent of what really happens. Would Shondaland kill off half of the one solid relationship in the two shows?

What to expect in ‘Station 19’ Season 5 Episode 5 and 6

ABC shared a synopsis of two upcoming episodes, and fans believe they indicate who dies in Station 19.

“When Theo and Vic hit a relationship milestone, Vic is forced to reckon with her feelings about commitment,” the ABC synopsis for Station 19 Season 5 Episode 5 reads. “Andy takes refuge at Dean’s home and helps care for Pruitt, while Dean considers a new potential career opportunity. Meanwhile, an explosion rips apart a neighborhood and changes the lives of our firefighters forever.”

Then the following synopsis proves that tragedy strikes the firefighters.

Station 19 and Station 23 each attempt to celebrate Thanksgiving following the fallout from the neighborhood explosion,” the synopsis for “Little Girl Blue” reads. “The firefighters come together to cook, toast to loved ones they have lost, and celebrate the families they have become.”

Who dies in ‘Station 19’? [Spoilers from fans]

When viewers took a closer look at the trailer for Station 19 Season 5 Episode 5, they believe Vic Hughes is the person who falls off the ladder. However, she doesn’t die. Instead, many viewers think that Dean Miller (Okieriete “Oak” Onaodowan) dies saving Vic.

“I think the person on the ladder is Vic,” one Station 19 fan wrote on Reddit. “That’s why Theo looks so desperate; Dean will climb up there to rescue her. (Theo wears a red helmet, Dean a black one, so it makes sense). Vic gets injured (that’s why she’s in civilian clothes in the Thanksgiving episode), Dean dies (he has not been seen on set since 5×05).”

Other viewers agree with the Station 19 Reddit theory that Dean Miller dies in season 5 episode 5, “Things We Lost in the Fire.” Another fan added that after Dean dies, Vic will find out that he loved her.

“The spoiler about Andy caring for Pru in this episode is significant, and it’s not random,” another Redditor added. “That could’ve been shown without being spoiled, but the writers intentionally put that as a spoiler for a reason.”

Pruitt is Dean’s daughter, who will need someone to care for her if something happens to Dean. In the next episode of Station 19, the synopsis explicitly discusses a celebration of the “families they have become.” Could this indicate that another couple at the firefighter station takes Pruitt in as part of their family?

Station 19 Season 5 Episode 5 airs on Nov. 11, 2021, at 8 p.m. EST followed by Grey’s Anatomy Season 18 Episode 5 at 9 p.m. However, it is a crossover event, so the storyline continues throughout both shows.
