Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) was left fearing for her life in EastEnders after abusive husband Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) put her in danger once more, and therefore she sets in motion her exit plan.
When the BBC One soap returned on Monday (September 7), it became apparent that the lockdown period had been particularly tough for Chantelle.
As a result, she set in motion divorce proceedings, and asked Kheerat (Jaz Deol) for some money.
The subsequent episode (September 8) saw Kheerat comply with her request, as he handed over some cash.
However, Gray — having suspected that she’s keeping something from him — attempting to manipulate and control Chantelle once more, and therefore made her submerge herself in bath water for two minutes.
He informed her that doing so would ‘prove’ how much she wanted to save their marriage, and thus she did so — but the horrifying experience left her fearing for her life.
She told Kheerat that she was going to exit Walford the following day, and in tonight’s episode (September 10), she sets in motion her plan.
Yes, as Gray heads out to work, Chantelle makes the final preparations, and sets the ball rolling, as she plans to get away with the kids.
Will Gray work out what she’s up to?
EastEnders continues Thursday September 10 at 7:35pm on BBC One.
