Rosie Ramsy has revealed her emotions ahead of the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas special this year. The podcast host reflected on the impact her comedian partner Chris’s experience had on her in 2019. She excitedly told Gethin Jones and Samantha Quek about her future appearance in the BBC ballroom.

On Wednesday’s Morning Live, Rosie announced she will be joining the special festive edition of the show.

Samantha said: “This is exciting news. How are you feeling about being on the Christmas special?”

Rosie replied: “I am really really excited. Obviously I watched Chris do it in 2019 and I was insanely jealous so as soon as I was asked to do this I grabbed it with both hands.”

Fellow presenter Gethin asked the Sh***ed, Married, Annoyed star: “Are you surprised at the amount of work it is?”

She continued: “Do you know what? Yes, it’s really hard. I have got so much more respect for anyone who has ever taken part in the show over the years.”

The new Strictly star remarked: “It’s a lot of cardio put it that way.”

Details of the special version of the glitzy show have emerged this week as part of the BBC’s schedule shake-up.

As is tradition, the Christmas Champion of 2022 will be crowned on December 25 this year and Rosie will be hoping to emulate last year’s winner, singer Anne Marie.

Radio One host Ricky Haywood-Williams is the only other confirmed celebrity hopeful for this year’s one-off show.

Four more famous faces will battle it out to impress the judges and the rest will be revealed this week.

Rosie will be paired with Neil Jones and Ricky will be alongside Luba Mushtuk.

Ahead of the special Ricky announced to the press: “I have watched Strictly over the years and always said I’d be too scared to do it. But here I am ready to go for it, sequins n’ all.”

In this year’s current series Kym Marsh has been suffering with Covid and missed last Saturday’s show.

She also appeared on Morning Live to provide an update on her health scare.

Kym explained: “So, obviously at the start of the week I came down with Covid.

“That wasn’t pleasant and certainly wasn’t a good time at all so that was rubbish but thankfully I am testing negative now.

“But then dad went into hospital during the week and obviously I have not been able to see him, I managed to see him yesterday because I have been testing negative.

“I have been able to go and see him but he is ok, he is on the mend but it was very scary for a couple of days, it has been a bit of a full plate on our end.”

This week’s quarter finals will see Kym, Helen Skelton, Fleur East, Hamza Yassin, Will Mellor, Molly Rainford all dance in the iconic Musicals week.

The show moved to Friday from its usual Saturday slot to accommodate the World Cup being screened.
