Outlander fans have long been excited about rumours of a potential spin-off series to the time-travelling drama. Now it seems like there could be a number of different ones being planned, according to the creator of the show Ronald D Moore.
How many Outlander spin-off series will there be?
Season five of Outlander recently came to a heartbreaking end on Starz and Amazon’s Prime Video.
Ending with a traumatic storyline for Claire Fraser (played by Caitriona Balfe), viewers are eagerly awaiting the upcoming season six.
However, in the meantime it seems like even more Outlander could potentially be on its way.
In a new interview with Collider, the series creator Moore revealed how Starz were looking into a number of potential spin-offs.

When asked about the possibility, he said: “We’re still talking about it.
“Starz is interested and we’re definitely in conversations. Sony and Starz are in conversations about a spin-off series.”
The creator was then pushed about what these new series could potentially focus on.
In response, he added: “We have more than one idea. We have a couple of ideas.
“And it’s still in internal conversation, so we’re not really prepared to go out and say what it is.”
This is definitely exciting news for fans of the show who are hopeful to see Outlander carry on for many more years.
What’s more, it seems like more than one of these shows could be in the works rather than just one.
And while the topic of the spin-offs has been announced, there have been a number of theories about this.

One of the spin-offs which has been rumoured for a while is based around Lord John Grey (David Berry).
This is because the character has his own book series already which was penned by Outlander author Diana Gabaldon.
The Outlander character has already been a part of the show before he made his exit in season five.
Speaking to Express.co.uk earlier this year author Gabaldon also revealed what she thought about the potential.
Asked whether she would like to see the Lord John spin-off, she said: “Yes, I would certainly like to see that done.”
This is also not the first time rumours of a spin-off have been teased by the creators.

Earlier in May, showrunner Matthew B. Roberts also told Deadline about how they’re hopeful for one for the fans of the show.
He said: “It’s an ongoing discussion, but nothing is set in stone as of yet.
“It’s amazing how the passion of the audience for these characters and this story has grown over the seasons.
“We would love to find a way to continue to reward the loyalty of our fans.”
This all looks positive for viewers to be able to see plenty more of the Outlander world on their screens.
Outlander seasons 1-5 are available to stream on Amazon’s Prime Video.
