Noughties talkshow legend says he’s joining Strictly Come Dancing 2024
20th October 2023

Although the latest series of Strictly Come Dancing may have only been on our screens for a matter of weeks, the much loved BBC dance show appears to have already bagged itself a contestant for next year’s 2024 edition!

The news was revealed during Thursday’s edition of Talk Today, TalkTV ’s flagship morning programme, when show host Jeremy Kyle insisted he would be ‘joining’ the lineup next year.

Jeremy made the surprise admission as he and co-host Nicola Thorp interviewed Strictly judge Shirley Ballas, with the 58 year old star telling viewers that if the price was right, he would definitely be strutting his stuff on the ballroom floor.

Jeremy said: ”I’ll do it if they offer me enough money. There, I’ve said it.

"I’m quite into it now. I’m going to do it. Can you imagine JK on Strictly? I’d be crap!”

Following Jeremy’s promise, Shirley Ballas couldn’t have appeared more thrilled, as the pro dancer cheered on his participation in the show, with a cheeky smile – even as Jeremy confessed his lack of dance experience might prove to be an obstacle.

Shirley said: “I’m not going to give you an opinion Jeremy but what I will predict is that one day you're going to put your cha-cha shoes on and do it, that’s what I’m going to predict."

Jeremy then replied: “There’s no chance that Jeremy Kyle can even get those cha-cha shoes on…”

Undeterred by his reluctance, Shirley then encouraged: “I want to see a wiggle and a jiggle… You have a beautiful shoulder line as a ballroom dancer and beautiful posture so I think it could be quite nice.”

However, despite Shirley’s keen interest in seeing Jeremy take to the dance floor, it appears his own pregnant wife Vicky Burton, was less than thrilled by the idea, as she sent a text message to her husband live on air, which Jeremy promptly read out.

"Please don’t do Strictly you idiot, you’ll look like an idiot,” it read.

This immediately caused all three stars in the studio to burst out laughing, before Jeremy confirmed he would indeed take part in the dancing contest.

Despite Jeremy’s comments however, no stars have yet been announced by the BBC to take part in the iconic dance show, which is currently enjoying its 21st series.
