Meghan Markle’s dad Thomas warns of new revelations as he begs to see Lilibet
9th June 2021

Meghan Markle's father Thomas has hinted he has more "dirty laundry" to air in an explosive trailer for an upcoming TV special.

In the interview with 60 Minutes Australia, the 76-year-old reveals that he hasn’t spoken to his daughter since before she married Harry more than three years ago.

In a sneak preview of the interview, he makes a reference to “dirty laundry”, leading to speculation that he will spill the beans about his difficult relationship with Meghan.

Thomas also says he is desperate to rekindle a relationship with Meghan and hopes the arrival of baby Lilibet will prove to be a catalyst for a reunion.

But he says the first he heard about the birth was on the radio.

In extracts of the interview that have already been released, Thomas says: “If I had done something terribly wrong, that would be fine, but I haven't. I just want an answer.”

He adds: "I'd love to talk to her. I've made mistakes. I apologised a hundred times for it.

"I'll be very disappointed that I don't get to hold my granddaughter.”

The 40-second preview clip features Thomas at his cliffside home south of Tijuana, Mexico, saying sorry for his "one dumb mistake".

Ominously for the Sussexes, he adds: "You want dirty laundry? This is the first time I've discussed these things."

The two Markles have had a strained relationship since Thomas posed for staged photographs ahead of Meghan’s May 2018 wedding. He later admitted that they were "hammy" and "stupid".

He didn’t attend the wedding in Windsor, and said it was to avoid embarrassing Meghan and the Royal Family, but it later emerged he also had to have heart surgery at that time.

It meant that Prince Charles walked Meghan down the aisle instead.

Since then, Thomas has publicly criticised Meghan and the Royal Family.

Earlier this year, during the Sussexes’ infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey, Meghan said she couldn't forgive what her father had done because she "genuinely can't imagine doing anything to intentionally cause pain" to her own son, Archie.

In the 60 Minutes interview, which will broadcast this Sunday, Thomas says: "Of course it hurts. My daughter and I had a great relationship."
