After being voted out of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Matt Hancock initially refused to announce when he would be heading back to the UK. However, after promising before he went into the jungle that he would leave as soon as he could, the MP has now revealed he will return to his constituents this week.

A spokesperson for Matt Hancock said: “Matt will be in West Suffolk this week and the second reading of his Dyslexia Screening and Teacher Training Bill will be heard in Parliament on Friday.”

Matt spent his first day outside of the jungle partying with his girlfriend Gina Coladangelo and his former campmates.

The MP and Gina returned to the JW Marriott Hotel before enjoying a drinks reception at the hotel and joining the other contestants for a three hour dinner party at La Luna restaurant at the Marina Mirage.

When Matt returned to the hotel, he refused to answer when asked when he would be returning to work.

It’s unclear whether he will present his Dyslexia Screening and Teacher Training Bill as an independent after being stripped of the Tory whip.

Before Matt went into the jungle he opened up on why he felt it was an important move.

He said: “I just wanted to show what I’m like as a person.

“Lots of people come to me with pre-conceived ideas for obvious reasons, but I just wanted to be myself.

“Politicians as a whole, we don’t come across as human enough. This is an extreme way of doing that.”

He added: “People think they know me, but they don’t. They know Matt Hancock from the TV and the media.”

The MP stepped down as the health secretary after his affair with Gina was exposed by the tabloids.

In June 2021, he was forced to resign after CCTV footage surfaced of him embracing his aide Gina at a time when this would breach his own rules on physical contact.

Babatunde Aleshe quizzed him on the scandal to which he said: ““I resigned and it’s no excuse, but I fell in love, right? That also had a lot of other consequences obviously.”

Matt’s decision to enter the I’m A Celebrity jungle was not well received by his colleagues.

He was suspended from the Conservative Party and Prime Minister Rishi Sunak slammed the former health secretary.

He said: “I was disappointed when he went on the show … we’ve spent however long [on] all these challenges that the country faces – not just me.

“MPs not just from my party, from all parties, are focused on debating and trying to solve [the challenges]. I think that’s what we should be focused on and that’s why I was disappointed he went on the show.”

Meanwhile, the voting results have been released from the I’m A Celebrity final.

When Matt, Owen Warner and Jill Scott remained in the competition, the MP received 21.72 percent of votes.

The Hollyoaks star managed to secure 30.99 per cent while Jill topped the voting with 47.29 per cent.

When just Owen and Jill remained the latter was crowned Queen of the Jungle after receiving 57.66 percent of the vote while Owen bagged himself 42.34 percent.
