Lucifer (played by Tom Ellis) has taken on a new role of God for season six, after previously serving as the Devil. As changes are made to the premise of the Netflix show and storylines are tied up, there will also be some surprises for fans, one of which will include the return of Jimmy (John Pankow), who is known for his killer instincts. But after ending things with Lucifer on bad terms last time they met, will he take his chance to murder the God-like being?
Jimmy featured in the show’s first season as the fiancé of former character, Delilah (AnnaLynne McCord) but their story didn’t come with a happy ending.
Having left her husband-to-be at the altar on their wedding day, he spent most of his time trying to get her back.
His obsession with the Lux bar singer turned deadly when he ordered a drug dealer to murder her by spiking her drink.
When he moved on to marry another woman, Lucifer interrupted proceedings and exposed the villain as his friend’s killer.
In retaliation for his crimes, the Devil terrorised his nemesis by showing him his demon form which drove Jimmy insane but will his return see him seeking revenge?
Following the release of promotional pictures for the new 10-episode season, it seems Jimmy will be making an appearance in episode three.
However, his comeback isn’t quite conventional as Lucifer and Chloe Decker (Lauren German) are seen watching a young boy called Jimmy (Andersen Bloomberg) from a hotel room.
It was reported prior to the picture release Jimmy was going to be making a return but it looks like it will focus on his past and what led him to become so troubled.
Another fact which has not yet been confirmed is whether this is the only version of the villain viewers are going to see.
Jimmy plays a pivotal role in an early episode
Jimmy isn’t dead but he has not been seen on the show since the first season aired on Amazon Prime Video in 2016.
If fans are to see adult Jimmy again, his time away from the action could have featured him coming up with a plan to get revenge on Lucifer.
Although the God-like being has been glamorised as a creature who is seemingly immortal, Jimmy could’ve found a way to break the barrier.
With Lucifer having no idea what is going to happen, he and others could be shocked when he dies in the final scenes of the programme.
With Lucifer, or God, gone, will Jimmy be able to find peace with his past and the subsequent actions he’s committed since?
TV Line leaked the spoiler there were going to be some familiar faces making a return to the drama and Jimmy was on the list.
“The killer from the supernatural series’ pilot — music producer Jimmy Barnes — plays a pivotal role in an early episode.
“[Jimmy will return] as Lucifer works through exactly what it will mean to be God,” the report explained.
Taking to Twitter, viewers have been sharing their thoughts on the villain’s return and what this will mean for Lucifer.
One fan posted on the social media platform: “Such a powerful and iconic scene with #Lucifer and The Detective confronting Jimmy Barnes.”
Another posted: “Candy was smart caring and rooting for Deckerstar. She was a real friend to #Lucifer and would be a pleasure to see again…But I wonder how Jimmy Barns is doing these days.”
Whilst a third remarked: “Oh, Jimmy. Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy… Wait until you *see* what’s in store for you… #VirtualHell #Lucifer.”
Lucifer season 6 will be released on Friday, September 10 on Netflix. Lucifer seasons 1-3 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video in the UK. Lucifer seasons 4-5 are available to stream on Netflix.
