Love Island hit with ‘extreme weather warning’ as temperatures soar in Majorca
6th June 2022

Love Islanders are set to sizzle this week as the latest contestants prepare for temperatures to hit nearly 40C.

The new singletons may be forced to hide inside after Meteorologists warned a heatwave is expected to hit the villa with a 70% probability of much warmer weather on the Balearic Island.

The intense heat could cause issues with filming as it is 10C hotter than it usually is at this time of year.

Spanish weather forecaster Silvia Laplana also commented on what's to come in the region, as she tweeted an image of a weather map.

"The heat will increase throughout the week," she captioned the worryingly-red graphic. "These are above average temperatures for this time of year."

In other parts of Spain, there's even an emergency heat prevention plan in place

Though high temperatures sound ideal for the sun-seeking Islanders, the intense heat would make filming outdoors for hours very uncomfortable.

Tonight saw the launch of the latest series of the ITV dating show as a slew of singles looking for love entered the brand new villa.

A new format change saw the contestants learn that the public had voted for their partners instead of the usual awkward pairings taking place by choice.

The decision to hand the Love Island power to the public isn’t going down super well with fans, who feel it stripped a lot of the dramatic heft away from the opening episode.

One fan said: "love a twist but I feel like they’ve removed a very key dramatic element by letting the public pair them up. no staking their claim or nicking each other’s partners. this is just team building and a buddy system #LoveIsland."

The public has chosen Amber and Dami as their first couple, followed by Michael’s Owen’s daughter Gemma paired up with Liam.

Indiyah and Ikenna were paired up next, followed by Tasha and Andrew.

That left Paige and Luca as the fifth and final couple.

Luca from Brighton was given the Twitter trophy for having the greatest opening VT line in Love Island history, saying “I’m Luca Bish and I sell fish”.

Bombshell Davide Sanclimenti turned all the girls' heads when he was introduced after the Islanders coupled up.

Speaking in the Beach Hut about Davide’s arrival, Indiyah Polack says: “When I saw him, I was very confused because I had no warning but he is very good looking!”

While Gemma gushed: “I was blown away.”
