Kate Garraway updated Good Morning Britain fans on her husband, Derek Draper and his recovery from coronavirus. She appeared on the show alongside Alastair Campbell, who has worked with Derek in the past. Kate explained there are still some “huge challenges ahead” for Derek and her family.
“I know your old man incredibly well. Used to work with him, occasionally against him,” Alastair began.
“Yeah I’ve heard all the stories from him, I’ve heard all the stories, he’s warned me so I’m fully braced and prepared,” Kate joked.
Alastair then wanted to know how Derek was doing and Kate replied: “He’s alright, he’s alright.
“He’s very up and down, we’re certainly not a long way out of the woods.”
Referring to why Derek returned home earlier this year, Kate explained: “Not because he was better, no. But being home has meant we’ve seen some things improved.
“Definitely having the family around, having the children around has provided stimulation and I think the problem is you latch on to the positives, which is good because you have to, but there’s absolutely no doubt that there’s huge challenges ahead.”
