Inbetweeners legends reunite for the first time in four years – sending fans wild | The Sun
19th September 2023

FANS of The Inbetweeners were left elated when two huge show stars reunited at the pub.

Channel 4 actor James Buckley, 36 – who played sex-obsessed Jay Cartwright known for his potty mouth and extravagant lies – was all smiles as he shared a hug with Joe Thomas, 39.

As loyal Inbetweeners viewers will know, Joe found fame playing Simon Cooper on the comedy's three seasons, which aired between 2008 to 2010.

The hit show followed four six-form students as they navigated their way towards adulthood, with a varying degree of success.

Now all grown up, the pair were all smiles as they headed out.

Joe, wearing a white top and jeans, threw his arm around James, who donned a trendy beige jacket.

James posted a duo of snaps to his Instagram page with the quip: "So glad we grew out of that awkward teenage phase …"

Fans were quick to react – and promptly demanded an Inbetweeners re-boot.

One wrote: "Will still never get over the fact that you guys only gave us 3 seasons."

A second added: "Time to get the band back together lads," as a third put: "These dons carried the UK for 5 years."

Casualty fans stunned to spot EastEnders star in shock show appearance

One then mused: "Inbetweeners as parents… we’re all waiting."

Previously, former show star Simon Bird has hinted the cast could reunite if the show headed to Netflix.

Yet the actor, who played loveable Will McKenzie in the E4 comedy series, has ruled out a re-boot where the cast play older, "embarrassing parents".

Simon, who has since gone on to star in comedy series Friday Night Dinner, then teased: "Cut to us all doing a third film for Netflix next year, anything's possible."

Yet James appeared less optimistic.

Despite recalling his time on the series as “the best job in the world”, he said: "But it might – you know, as I'm getting older – it's looking like it might be the only thing that I do professionally that is universally loved.

“There's not enough money in the world for me to spoil that.”

He then went on to beg former soap star mate Danny Dyer for a role on EastEnders instead.
