I was a 90s megastar with a string of No1s but now I'm a school headteacher after quitting the UK | The Sun

LISA Scott-Lee performed in packed-out stadiums with Steps in the nineties, but she's now turned her hand to teaching.

The singer and her husband Johnny Shentall-Lee run a stage school in Dubai after quitting the UK.

They moved to the country in 2011, before launching the Dubai Performing Arts Academy together three years later.

The school educates around 600 pupils ages between three and 18 and includes a 500-seat theatre.

Lisa, who has two children with Johnny, is the school's founder and principal.

Johnny, who was in Hear'Say after he replaced Kym Marsh, is the creative director and choreographer.

Despite being very busy, Lisa has still found time to join her band-mates for performances after they reformed for a second time in 2017.

While Lisa describes Steps as "her life", she says being a headteacher is her "day job" and struggles to switch off from teaching.

There is crossover, too, as she will often be working on her laptop while rehearsing with the band.

Lisa works six days a week at the school focusing on its day-to-day running, while her husband is the creative director and main teacher.

She was recently accused of using her fame to skip a bar queue in Brighton's Legends bar after Steps headlined the city's Pride concert.

And while there it was reported that, despite the singer’s career in such an iconic band, not everyone knew her name.

“At the bar, she tried to order a drink from an area that wasn't in service. When a bartender told her she'd need to move round to the other bit to get served, she replied ‘…but I'm Lisa Scott-Lee?’” writes Popb****.

Continuing: “The singer looked baffled when the young staff member didn't recognise her and was forced to queue with the masses for her prosecco.”

And Lisa has since responded with a playful snap of herself sat at the bar looking less than impressed.

She shoots a glance at the bartender in her photo, who can be seen holding up a sign that reads: “No service on this side of the bar thank you.”

Lisa penned as her caption: “This was my ‘end of the night’ photo after @brightonprideofficial after party at @legendsbrighton No service’!!

“This person meant business, and held this sign with pride, and a brilliant expression. Respect.”

Fans were loving Lisa’s response, as one wrote: “Ha Ha Loving this Darling No one refuses our Lisa,” and someone else penned: “but you're Lisa Scott-Lee.”

Steps has sold more than 20 million albums worldwide since they formed in May 1997.

The band released its sixth studio album, What The Future Holds, in November 2020.
