Great British Bake Off fans sadly said goodbye to Michael Chakraverty on the Channel 4 series this evening. The 26-year-old was eliminated from the competition after failing to impress Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith with his culinary delights.
Tonight’s Bake Off was particularly tough as each contestant had to produce some festival-inspired bakes.
In the Showstopper, each Baker had to create a deconstructed layer cake which was not only technically difficult, but would be hard to get the flavours right too.
Sadly, Michael didn’t manage to fulfil the criteria and it was down rot an emotional Sandi Toksvig to announce tonight’s result.
While everyone rushed around the theatre manager and fitness instructor, his exit interview was played on top.

He told the camera: “It’s ok, my head is held high. I’m happy and I’m proud.
“I’m going out laughing,” Michael added, while a tear dropped down his smiling face.
Continuing in good humour, the baker said: “I wish I was a pretty crier like in the black and white French films.”
Paul told Channel 4 viewers: “It’s pretty sad seeing Michael go, but the standard got better and I think we will see a better standard of baking.”
