ITV Good Morning Britain welcomed back regular presenter Richard Madeley after a lengthy break this morning (October 11) and the TV personality joined co-host Susanna Reid as he explained where he's been since viewers saw him last.
Appearing back in his seat behind the GMB desk, Richard explained that he'd been kept busy and "up to his eyeballs" since he last appeared on-screen thanks to working on his novel.
Richard has reportedly been organising his time to make sure his latest book meets its publishing deadline and has been spending many days writing at home.
But after Richard had explained his month-long absence from the ITV daytime show, viewers took to Twitter to react to his return and the mood was mixed.
One tweeted: "Such a disappointment that Richard Madeley is back on GMB. He adds no value. Switching over." Another wrote in capital letters, "RICHARD MADELEY ON GMB! GET OFF MY TV".
A third added to the complaints: "Why do they bring in Richard to host when Ranvir is just standing there? Such a waste of a presenter."
However, Richard's fans were delighted to see him back on screen with one tweeting: "Great to see Richard back", with another adding: "Awh I love Richard and his little stories! Hope he stays forever".
A third added: "YAY Richard is back on GMB! Have missed him."
Richard's return comes a few weeks after daughter Chloe Madeley gave birth by emergency caesarean section while her Dad was live on TV.
Speaking exclusively to OK! Richard told of the dramatic moment he found out his daughter was being rushed into theatre for an emergency c-section.
The presenter was live on air when he received the news from her husband James Haskell, 37, on the family’s group WhatsApp, which he opened during a commercial break.
Richard said: “She was born about 8.30am – I was on air – I was on GMB, and I really wanted to tell people but I obviously couldn't because it was too soon, and we had to make sure everything was alright and all of the rest of it."
Chloe recently appeared on Loose Women to complain that Richard had given too much away on TV before the birth referring to the moment her Dad accidentally revealed her due date on live TV.
Viewers were treated to an adorable on-screen introduction to Richard's newborn baby granddaughter, Bodhi.
Discussing their experience of becoming first-time parents, Chloe revealed that she’d previously always been a bit of a “daddy’s girl” but during her pregnancy this changed a little and began to balance out as she leaned on her mum, Judy Finningan, more for advice.
In response to this comment, panellist Charlene White joked: “Is that why he revealed your birth date on GMB? Perhaps he was feeling a bit jealous.”
With Chloe then going on to explain what happened following her dad’s slip-up.
She said: “Honestly, you know how one of your talking points on the show today is ‘do your parents still have a go at you?’ I would say that for me it’s the other way around.”
Explaining she adds: “I got a message on Instagram from someone like ‘oh my god we have the same due date’ and I was like ‘what? How does this random woman know my due date?’
And then I went on the MailOnline and I saw it and I was like ‘oh dear lord’ and I had the biggest go at him, and then I felt really guilty.”
Good Morning Britain continues tomorrow at 6am on ITV1.
