ITV soap fans will know Emmerdale’s Aaron Dingle (played by Danny Miller) is currently coupled up with Ben Tucker (Simon Lennon). The beginning of their relationship hasn’t been an easy one, as Aaron discovered his boyfriend had been lying to him in an attempt to cover up his big secret that he was homeless. Ben has since moved in with Aaron, but could their relationship be at risk?

The young couple seem to be happy in their relationship so far, having moved past Ben’s initial deception.

However, some viewers seem to think Aaron could have a new love interest on the horizon.

One character that has caught the eye of fans is Moira Barton’s (Natalie J Robb) brother Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb).

Mackenzie made a dramatic entrance to the Dales last year when he got caught up with Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins).

Mackenzie first appeared on the outskirts of the village, when he ran into Charity after his car broke down.

Charity kindly fixed the car while flirting with Mackenzie, and as a result, the pair ended up kissing.

They were photographed by an unknown person, who subsequently handed the photos to Charity’s fiancée, destroying their relationship.

Could Mackenzie soon cause the end of another relationship if he begins to grow close to Aaron?

Viewers seem to suspect the pair may soon spark a romance, starting a secret affair behind Ben’s back.

In a thread on Reddit, Emmerdale fans discussed the introduction of Mackenzie and debated whether or not he could soon be involved in a romantic storyline.

One user remarked: “I was really hoping he and Aaron would have some more storylines together. I think he is at least more interesting than Ben. I feel like they just don’t know what to do with him.”

A second agreed: “Yh I thought they were hinting at him being bi or something and yh Ben is very boring and dull.” [Sic]

Could Mackenzie really have an affair with Aaron and push Ben out of the picture?

If the pair do start to grow closer, it wouldn’t be the first time Aaron’s been caught up in a scandalous relationship.

He previously had an affair with Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) who at the time was engaged to Chrissie White (Louise Marwood).

Fans first picked up on the chemistry between Aaron and Mackenzie earlier this year when the duo shared a number of flirtatious scenes.

Mackenzie used his alluring behaviour to try to get Aaron involved in one of his criminal schemes.

Soap fans soon took to Twitter to discuss whether or not the pair would make a good match.

One viewer commented: “Unpopular opinion or is it? Mackenzie and Aaron >>>> Aaron and Ben. Regardless of what happens though I’m gonna see how things play out. #Emmerdale.” [Sic]

“I would love if Aaron & Mackenzie got together #Emmerdale,” a second remarked.

“I must say, I like Ben but not particularly feeling much between him and Aaron. I don’t think they’d be right for each other. And as much as I hate to say it, I’m more intrigued by Aaron & Mackenzie #Emmerdale,” a third added.

Lawrence Robb, who plays Mackenzie in the soap, previously spoke out about his character’s flirting with Aaron.

He said: “I think Aaron does fancy Mack in an, ‘Oh I shouldn’t… but I do’ kind of way, and I think Mack knows that and enjoys the attention.”

The soap star also commented on Mackenzie’s ambiguous sexuality, saying: “It’s interesting, as Sam asked him recently: ‘Are you gay?’ and Mack said ‘I can be whatever I want to be’, so he’s not really anything at the moment.

“I don’t think the writers are going down a route of Mack’s straight, bisexual or gay, as I think he’s just free.

“And I don’t think that Mack’s really interested in anything romantic as of yet,” he told Inside Soap.

Emmerdale continues Monday at 7pm on ITV.
