Emmerdale spoilers tease Kim Tate death fears, Matty surgery secret and sad exit
8th April 2021

Emmerdale fans are still putting together the wreckage that was left in the wake of Paul Ashdale's death last week – but the ITV soap isn't stopping the drama there.

New Emmerdale spoilers have revealed that there could be even more death on the cards, while Paul's death sees a speedy exit from his funeral.

Meanwhile, Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano) has a big decision to make about the next step in his transition – but is he doing it for himself or for the benefit of his girlfriend Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson).

It's clear there's plenty for viewers to get their teeth into next week on the soap.

Kim Tate death fears

Kim Tate (Claire King) is shocked when Jamie (Alexander Lincoln) and Andrea (Anna Nightingale) reveal they've amicably settled their divorce, with Jamie letting go of Dale View so he can keep his daughter close by.

Later on, Jamie finds Kim arguing with Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) about losing Dale View and he turns on her, before leaving her taking some shots at Gabby.

She tries to kick Gabby out, but she's woozy and disorientated.

Kim starts swigging brandy and Gabby heads out, hurt by Kim's words.

But as the door slams shut, Kim loses her balance and collapses to the floor, before she loses consciousness.

The next day, Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) arrives and finds Kim lifeless.

Kim opens her eyes and Lydia tells her she needs to see a doctor, but she refuses.

In private though, Kim is terrified that she could be seriously ill and checks something out on her laptop.

Soon Gabby turns up and she knocks the laptop, reading what it says out loud.

Kim eventually comes clean and nervously opens up to Lydia and Gabby.

Matty surgery secret

Matty tells Moira (Natalie J Robb) that he has a consultation and assessment to get on the waiting list for lower surgery.

Moira is supportive during the virtual consultation but is concerned over whether Matty is going through with the surgery for himself, or for Amy's benefit.

Matty is emotional as he explains to his mum the difference it will make in his life – and that Amy is unaware of his consultation.

A supportive Moira tells him to speak to Amy about it.

The next day, Amy is left worried when Matty fails to return her calls and when he makes an excuse and leaves their lunch date early.

Amy speaks to Moira, who tells her to speak to Matty, as she doesn't want to break her son's trust.

Eventually, Matty explains all about the consultation and why he was nervous to tell Amy.

He tells her why he wants to go through the surgery and Amy says she'll support him every step of the way, and that he should do whatever's right for him.

Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) is prepared to face the day of his dad's funeral as the hearse arrives.

Mandy (Lisa Riley) is left on edge, wanting to support Vinny but unable to honour Paul's memory.

She tells Lydia to keep Vinny inside so she can say goodbye in her own way.

Mandy speaks directly to Paul's coffin and struggles to hold back her emotions as she says he doesn't deserve a funeral.

But Vinny walks out and overhears, and tells Mandy that she should be ashamed.

He's all alone as he walks through the village behind the hearse.
