Emmerdale real-life couple Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden spark split fears and are living 'separate lives' | The Sun
2nd November 2023

EMMERDALE’S Charley Webb and Matthew Wolfenden have sparked speculation they are on the verge of splitting up.

Sources say the golden couple of soap have effectively been living separate lives for months now – after 15 years together.

Charley and Matthew first met on the set of Emmerdale back in 2007 and by 2009 they were engaged.

The couple, who share three children, previously split in 2013 for two years before having a surprise wedding in 2018.

But fans fear the honeymoon period is well and truly over, with an insider revealing: “Charley and Matthew were in very different places in their lives when they first got together.

“Three kids later and with new careers in the mix, everything has changed and perhaps they are no longer the unit they once were."

No support

Matthew recently quit Emmerdale after 18 years of playing David Metcalfe and has got stuck into rehearsing for his new role in Elf straightaway.

Charley meanwhile left the soap two years ago and her career has gone from strength to strength.

She is currently in the hit drama The Long Shadow, which is undoubtedly a career highlight for her – but Matt is yet to publicly comment on it.

Charley has grown very close to Sheridan Smith

Charley has turned to Sheridan Smith in recent months. The pair spend a lot of time together when they are not both working.

It’s thought Charley has been spending time at Sheridan’s house and Sheridan has become a real support to her – both professionally and personally.

Not so social

Charley and Matthew haven’t posted with each other online in over a year.

While Matthew doesn’t use Instagram very much, Charley posts on a daily basis.

They have also not commented on or liked each other’s posts for some time.

No mention

Matt appeared on Loose Women last week and opened up about their gruelling schedules.

He admitted that his parents have had to step in and help look after their kids – Buster, Bowie and Ace.

He failed to mention Charley during the interview, but did say on a couple of occasions about how much he missed his boys while working away.
