Emmerdale viewers were left confused during tonight's instalment, as Chloe Harris (played by Jessie Elland) was released from hospital despite only coming out of an induced coma a couple of days earlier.
The character seemed to be at death's door on the ITV soap last week, and Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) spent days crying and fretting over how to explain away his actions which saw him save Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) during the dramatic car crash in Super Soap Week.
Yet while there were plenty of tears from devastated sister Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson) as she feared Chloe wouldn't make it through her brain damage and myriad of other injuries, things took a very sudden and positive turn after she woke up.
While many fans were convinced that the character should need a number of weeks in recovery and rehabilitation in hospital, it appeared that writers decided to release Chloe early in a bid to move the storyline along.
The latest episode on 23 October, saw Chloe struggling with a pair of crutches on her way back to the village, with her fiancé Mack rushing to assist her.
But apart from a number of cuts and bruises across her face, she was already relatively unscathed.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, fans couldn't understand how Chloe could already have recovered so well.
"If I get poorly I’m going to Hotton General!!! I shall be marching out of there in a week doing my Duke of Edinburgh award no brain injury’s here! #Emmerdale," one person declared.
Another fan commented: "Chloe looks amazing after going off a cliff in her car makes no sense #emmerdale."
"Oh wait! #Chloe is out of hospital already. I thought she has a fractured pelvis #Emmerdale," a third viewer observed.
While a fourth person joked: "Hotten Lourdes has worked it’s magic, though being impaled obviously takes a couple of days longer than normal #Emmerdale"
"Seriously, Glowy's been discharged? #emmerdale," another person demanded, followed by: "Considering Chloe literally rolled a car which then fell off a CLIFF, with her in it tumbling around like a rag doll, should she not have been a little bit more injured/brain damaged? #Emmerdale,"
"Coma one day, walking into Emmerdale the next…. Wow #Emmerdale," another person added.
Despite the confusion, fans are still convinced that Chloe will eventually seek revenge on Mack, as she secretly knows the truth about what happened when the car rolled off the cliff.
"If all this doesn't end with Chloe finally ending Mack, then what even is the point #emmerdale," one person noted, as others encouraged the character to team up with her sister Amy against Mack.
Elsewhere in the village, Tom and Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) are struggling after moving in together, as the former continues to pull away from his girlfriend.
The latest episode saw Belle discover that Tom was privately dealing with his mother's death, but had chosen not to let her in on the heartbreaking situation.
Emmerdale continues weekdays at 7.30pm on ITV
