Emmerdale fans go wild as they recognise Marlon’s doctor with star being on ITV soap before
4th May 2022

Emmerdale fans went wild on Wednesday's episode as they recognised Marlon Dingle's new doctor after he returned to hospital on Tuesday.

Only recently, Marlon had a life-threatening stroke in heartbreaking episodes with the ITV soap working closely with the charity, Stroke Association, to give a "realistic and authentic depiction" of his journey.

And on Tuesday's episode, Marlon came up against another health battle as he was rushed to hospital with aspiration pneumonia and his rehabilitation is likely to regress.

During Wednesday's episode, it saw Marlon and Rhona Goskirk talking to his new doctor, Naya Hartley, with fans quick to recognise the medical professional.

Taking to Twitter, one person said: "That nurse looks familiar? #Emmerdale."

A different account put: "What has that nurse been in she looks familiar #Emmerdale."

To which another follower replied: "I thought that! Can’t place her though…"

And it turns out viewers were right to recognise the doctor as actress, Maya Barcot, has appeared on the ITV soap before both in 2018 and 2019, playing doctor Naya Hartley once again.

This isn't Maya's only medical role and she also played Dr. Archer in an episode of EastEnders, which aired earlier this year.

Taking to Twitter on Wednesday, Maya tweeted about her appearance and wrote: "Catch me popping up on Emmerdale tonight."

It comes after fans were quick to question where nurse Gail Hancock, who had cared for Marlon following his stroke, was during the episode.

Taking to Twitter, one person said: "Where's nurse Gail?#Emmerdale."

A different account put: "Where’s Gail? #Emmerdale."

While another follower wrote: "A new nurse for Marlon. #Emmerdale."

It comes after Marlon star Mark Charnock bid an emotional farewell to his co-star Elizabeth Boag last week as she left the ITV soap.

Taking to Twitter after her final episode aired, Gail star Elizabeth revealed that it was the end of her journey on the ITV soap and that she had "loved every minute".
