Mitch (played by Roger Griffiths) was involved in one of the biggest storylines for EastEnders before the BBC soap stopped airing new episodes last month after filming was put on pause back in March as a consequence of the coronavirus crisis. Viewers watched as he recklessly meddled in Karen’s (Lorraine Stanley) relationship with Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), leading the two men to have a fight in the middle of the street. It seemed the mother-of-six was torn as to who her heart lay with as her current boyfriend issued her an ultimatum. However, could she be left devastated when her ex-lover’s plan is exposed and it’s revealed he doesn’t really want to kickstart their romance?
When Mitch arrived on the Square in 2018, it was clear he had a connection to the Taylor clan and it soon emerged he was the father of teenager Keegan Baker (Zack Morris) and mother-of-two, Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer).
Although her children were against the idea, Karen couldn’t help but fall for her ex’s charms and it wasn’t long before they slept together.
The troublemaker didn’t stick around for long as when a stash of cash was pushed through his former lover’s front door, he took the money and fled without saying goodbye.
Some months later he returned to Walford and he wasn’t alone as his youngest daughter, Bailey Baker (Kara-Leah Fernandes), joined him who the laundrette worker has happily taken on as her own following the death of her mother, Dinah Wilson (Anjela Lauren Smith).
After a few tricky months for the infamous clan, Karen was finally making time for herself by giving things a go with Billy, but with a choice to make, will she make the wrong one as Mitch’s plan is unveiled to all?

Just before the soap was taken off the air, Karen’s love interests were seen vying for her affections by playing an air hockey match at the Prince Albert bar.
As things escalated and they goaded one another, their spat became public as they both launched their fists at one another.
Billy ended up with the bloody nose and although his girlfriend tried to comfort him, it was left on a cliffhanger if she really does feel something for her ex.
The love triangle has left fans confused and posting on micro-blogging site Reddit, some have pondered about whether Mitch could be scamming his former lover and using his charm to keep her by his side.
I think he sees Karen as a free ride
One fan, kingcaptor, wrote: “I don’t think he actually has any romantic feelings for Karen, I think he sees Karen as a free ride.
“Karen raises his kids, cooks for him, cleans up for him and puts a roof over his head, and all he has to do is act a little flirty towards her sometimes.
“I think that Mitch is just threatened that Billy might take Karen away from him,” they continued, so could the troublemaker scupper Karen’s happiness for his own gains?
Billy isn’t likely to be happy if his girlfriend does choose her ex, having given up on his romance with Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton) to pursue the laundrette worker.

Will Karen finally get rid of the scrounger if she discovers his feelings towards her are not as genuine as she thinks?
It seems the pair will be featuring in some of the upcoming scenes together as the soap has now returned to filming for the first time in three months.
A behind-the-scenes video has been shared from the show’s official Twitter page of the actors back on set.
Amongst the discussion from the cast about what’s to come, Mitch and his former lover were seen in the Queen Vic with son-in-law Gray Atkins (Toby-Alexander Smith).

Speaking about he experience back on set, actress Lorraine, 44, said: “So my first day back on the Square has been brilliant. It’s so good to see people. Not being able to hug is an issue because I’m a hugger.
“But apart from that, yeah it’s lovely to be back into the swing of things. They’re using some magic techniques to make it seem like we’re closer than what we are.
“We’re sticking to the two-metre rule but the magic of TV makes it look like we’re closer. So we’re all happy to be back here.
“We can’t wait to be back on your screens soon for you to see us all and share the Square,” she concluded, but will one of these scenes be her character Karen finally taking down Mitch?
