Over the weekend, it was revealed Boris Johnson’s political advisor Dominic Cummings had arguably flouted coronavirus lockdown guidelines and travelled from London to County Durham where he stayed overnight and visited a local beauty spot before returning to the capital. This has caused uproar, with calls for Cummings to resign or be sacked. Yesterday he answered media questions where he explained his actions. Today, This Morning discussed the latest surrounding this scandal and presenters Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were joined by Alastair for his take on the argument.
“If you were director of communications, would this be any different?” Holmes argued. “It would be like pot calling the kettle black!”
“How would it?” Campbell hit back. “I would never have done what Cummings did, and I wouldn’t have waited to be sacked or told to go. “It’s pathetic Eamonn!”
Those watching at home were left divided by Campbell’s comments and his appearnce on the show and took Twitter to complain.
One said: “#ThisMorning why is this bloke even on. Pathetic hypocrite. @campbellclaret.”
“Pot calling the kettle black Alastair #ThisMorning,” another reiterated.

However others thought he was on point: “YES SIR @campbellclaret SPEAKING FOR THE PEOPLE. #ThisMorning,” one twee read.
Another offered: “Loving Alistair Campbell #ThisMorning.”
While a third said: “I agree Alistair. They are unfit for public office. But find me an MP who is…#ThisMorning.”
