Maura Higgins has become the latest celebrity to be eliminated from Dancing On Ice.
The Love Island star and her professional partner Alexander Demetriou landed in the skate off on Sunday night against Libby Clegg and her partner Mark Hanretty.
Fans came to Maura’s defence after she was scored lower than Coronation Street star Lisa George, who struggled to dance with a chair towards the end of her routine.
Giving his feedback, judge Ashley Banjo said Libby and Maura had ‘inspired’ him, but based his decision on the skate off performance and decided to save the reality TV star.
John Barrowman said the ladies had progressed well, but based on the ’emotion and beauty’ he saved Maura.
Jayne Torville chose to save Libby, while head judge Chris – who had the deciding vote – also went for Libby.
Maura said: ‘I really did want to stay.’ Tearing up she struggled to speak further.
‘She is one of the greatest women I’ve ever met,’ Alexander said.
This week saw the contestants have to incorporate a prop into their routines. Maura danced with a broom, while Libby performed using a suitcase.
The episode also saw magician Ben Hanlin successfully pull off the risky headbanger move with his pro partner Carlotta Edwards.
It comes the week after Ian H Watkins and Matt Evers were booted from the show.
Dancing On Ice airs Sundays at 6pm on ITV.
